    Hi,

I am testing out a strategy whereby you list goods on amazon that you can find on sale/cheaper elsewhere.
So I have a treadmill listed and a laptop listed. They are the cheapest of each item on the site and have been up for a week and no sales.
    Am i missing something?

Is there more science to selling on amazon than just listing and getting a sale?

Its kind of knocked my confidence that I can expand into any long term plan of selling on amazon. if you cant shift the cheapest branded goods what hope is there of selling your own product

    Thanks

Reputation for a start. Would you buy off someone with no reputation at all, when you can find the same product, same price from a person with reputation?

That sounds about right, i didn't understand the reputation thing, when people have ratings under the product I thought that was for the product not the seller.

How are you able to get seller reputation if you need a reputation to sell in the first place? Seems a bit catch 22. Can you just get a friend to rate you or something?

    Thanks

Yes the only way really would be to buy things and leave reviews. I am not too sure how Amazon works though.

Try going off their platform and build your own E-commerce site.
I recommend Shopify for this and brand your own Domain name
that suits your particular niche or items. Make a nice website and
list products there. Go in to FB ads or other PPC platforms and
send traffic to the site. Tweak it and optimize so you can be profitable.

Is a paid method yes but can be very profitable.

A good way to build reputation is low priced fast moving goods. Shift a lot quickly and get reviews. Build up to the high ticket items progressively don't go from $1 air filters to $1600 computers build up to it. This can still be done quickly.

Thanks very much for the input guys.

I never really understood how these online market places worked. I always thought it was like a classifieds ad. You put up your product and if the price and product are right someone will buy it.

But seems Amazon and Ebay is more of a science than that

lol if it was so easy no one would be complaining that they aren't making any money online.

The science is... where the hell are your visitors gonna come from ? are they going to come from search engines, amazon/ebay inbuilt search engines, other places, etc? always remember that money doesn't just drop from the sky, when you make a sale, theres always a real person behind the other side, someone who is exchanging his money either for your product or service.
