Let's say if I am to create a website focused on one niche and post everyday one interesting article on it for the next 6 months, will it get me anywhere without doing any SEO?

Have you done such an experiment and what were your results with this method? How did it go and what did you find difficult and rewarding along the way?

Would appreciate to hear from people who have actually traveled down this road and the experiences they have to share.

    Powpew,

I haven't done this exact experiment but I have deliberately ramped up post production on a blog and the results are typically good however that doesn't mean you don't need a strategy. For instance if you were to just post nonsensical rubbish every day for six months, I doubt anything would happen. Conversely if you were to post a well-researched article that was incredibly useful every day for six months, I would say that you could build a following pretty quickly.

Obviously in one scenario, the only effort you have to put in is writing whatever pops into your head and the only time it would take is as fast as you could type. The other scenario would take hours of reading, maybe primary research, proof reading, linking, image crafting, etc and it would be a full time job.

So the results of your experiment will be directly proportional to the amount of effort and time you put in as well as what audience the content appeals to. How you promote that content will also have an effect on your results however if you don't promote it at all, that would mean it would have to be that much better in order to gain any exposure because visitors who happened upon it would have to think it very valuable to share etc, etc.

I would be interested to see how it turns out,

    Best,

    Shawn

I remember reading about something like this a few days ago. The blogger only posted high quality content and did not do ANY link-building and she managed to get over 150k uniques per month. Just to show you that content is king.

Consistent post creation isn't an SEO strategy it's a requirement if you don't want to get slapped by google.

However 1 post per day would be a little extreme, perhaps one per week would be a better target and that will allow you to spend your time using SEO techniques that will actually help your rankings, both on-page and off-page.

Yes it will work out. But you need to use LSI keywords and should do good keyword research. If you focus on one particular keyword
its hard to get unique visitors, you can concentrate on broad keyword phrases.

I'm actually planning to do something similar.I'm promoting a certain niche. Will be doing a few posts to check if it works and then do a post every week and add a youtube video linking back to my site.

Thank you Shawn for the input. I am merely interested to see if by following this strategy the website has good chances for success or not.

Could you provide the link by any chance? Would be interested to read and see how it panned out.

The whole idea is to rank with good content and no SEO being done, not even keyword research. That's the scenario I am interested in.
One post a day could be too much if I was trying rank high the articles for keywords, but considering in this case no SEO will be performed then I have the feeling one article a day isn't that much after all. Maybe I am mistaken, that's why I am asking if someone has already trampled this road.

I would say it can work at 90% success rate if you add only social media bookmarks and signals.

What can be considered as success (in terms of unique visitors/income) in such a case scenario after 6 months?
