One of those days

I tend to commit to a bit of gaming in periods of lack of inspiration. Usually it only takes a couple days max before I get re-motivated to get back to making money. After all, killing minions is fun, but it does not compare to bringing home the benjamins.

I take my dog to the beach after sunset and go for a run.

The beach by me has no real lights but never gets dark at night. It's a really unique area.

The lights of NYC are 6 miles away. It's the only beach in NJ that's parallel to NYC. So the area is in a type of convex region. You get northern lights from the Verrazano, Empire State, Coney Island, etc... western lights from Staten Island & eastern lights from Sandy Hook and Brooklyn. All these lights converge on Port Monmouth Beach where I live.

City from the calm narrows north west...

City from the western tip of Sandy Hook. About 2 miles north east from me...

Unfortunately, I can't find 1 good photo of my beach at night. That shows the city, how the moon, red, blue and green lights all mix together into this beautiful mess of light. It shimmers around the whole beach as the waves crash. So if you look down it looks like you're running on electricity. :D

Preventative maintenance is the key to avoiding burnout...

Get away from your desk/computer at least a few days a week. Completely away. No smart phone, no email, nothing. Call it Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. That will force you to have a life outside IM, and if you do that, you keep shit in perspective.

Spend some money.

I usually buy some cloths :)

This. This is what I do when I'm bored. Go to Ebay, Amazon, anywhere I can and throw money at shit I don't need, but figure it might be cool to have.

Buy a motorcycle - you have no idea how much they empty your mind of problems and stress until you ride one.

Having one of those "aaaaand fuck it, I quit" days. What do you guys do when you burn out?

I get as far away from the computer as I can. A good outdoor work out session like a hike or a bike ride works well for me.

Everybody needs some time away from work. If you can't take some short holiday somewhere, than try watching some movie or go out with your friends and spend some of your earn money, it will relax you and you will be prepared to go back to work again :)

Take up an extreme sport and you'll tick a number of boxes. You're completely away from your computer/the IM world, you get exercise and you're forced to switch off from everything else. When I'm hurtling down a mountain on a bike at 30mph, I can't think of anything else, it's like forced meditation. You may even have a few 'oh shit I'm a gonner' moments that make you grateful that you're alive.

When I go to get away from my computer I usually go outside mess with the horses go fishing go and play music over my friends house but whatever I do a cannot be looking at the screen when I reach burnout mode so that that's happening find something totally different to do as long as it has nothing to do with the computer that's how I handle it

Damn! Thanks everyone for the input. Good bunch of people on BHW.

Gym, soccer, traveling, reading, hanging out with gf and friends... these are my kind of things. If it were not for these, I would've been in a mental hospital now due to boredom.
