On-Page SEO Question - Best Practices / Tips

Hi,

This may seem like a bit of a newb question but I have a quick question about optimizing homepage content. Ok, Lets say i have a website, i want
to rank the home page for EG: "dog trainers sydney" and other variations,
and my business name is "Dog Training Experts".

Would i:

A) Use the anchor text "Dog Trainers Sydney" and link it to my home page in my homepage content and use bold text for "Dog Training Experts" on
my homepage.

B) Use the anchor text "Dog Training Experts" and link it to my home page in my homepage content and use bold text for "Dog Trainers Sydney" on
my homepage.

Hope this makes sense. I have just seen a couple of different ways people
do this and just wondering which way BHW'ers think is best.

Use as Page Title : Dog Training Experts - Dog trainers sydney , h1 tags with your keyword and vary your acnhor texts, use both of them and a lot more in order to look natural

For Example : Dog training courses,dog training academy,dog training tutorials,dog training advice , etc

Also dont forget to optimize meta description, and alt tags of the pictures in your website

I am also newbie in onpage seo, and quite satisfied with above answer.

That's a bad title. It has "dog training" two times. Not good!

A better title would be to combine more than one keyword. For example:

Dog Training in Sidney - How to Train Your Dog, Tips and Advice

You should also have "Dog Training in Sidney" as H1 on homepage.

You should also have the following H2 on homepage (adapt per your needs/keywords):

1. Learn how to train your dog
2. Check out the dog training tips
3. Get advice on dog training issues

...you get the point.


For anchor, use any combination that includes your keywords, generic anchors like "read more", URLs (http://....), etc. Idea is to mix it up. However you should try to get the best links have as anchor text exactly the keyword you're targeting. In other words if you find a PR5 page where you can leave a d0f0llow link make the anchor "dog training tips".
