I dont know if this has already been posted by anyone but if it has I couldnt find it. Anyway, just a really interesting article that I read on ahrefs about SEO factors in 2016:

They have extracted a lot of useful information from the analysis of 2 million keywords.

The key points that I took from the article are as follows:

Backlinks are extremely important still (Of course)

Relevence is very important and can often help a page to outrank others with far more backlinks

Length of content is very important.

Having the specific keyword or phrase pretty much anywhere in the content is not anywhere near as important now so I think the conclusion there is that LSI keywords etc are far more important and Google understands much more that an article can be related specifically to plenty of different keywords without neccesarily mentioning them.
 
Great share, thanks. The article mentions DR70+, what does DR stand for? No doctor jokes please! I presume the D would mean domain?
