What is more important from an SEO point of view?

My understanding is that they are both important, however off page and getting good quality back links is better than spending hours getting the content perfect?

Both are important like that On-page and off-page SEO work together to improve your search engine rankings.


On-page seo like -foundation
Off-page seo like -House Maintenance and Repair
 
Firstly if Google can't crawl your website smoothly and if you have too many issue on your GSC. How google index your post? So on page seo is not enough at 2023 strategy. You need to do some technical seo.

When you do the 1st step, now It's time to proof to Google you have authority. For website authority you need some quality backlinks. Google John Muller said Niche related backlinks can boost your ranking 2x faster.

Now you decide what is important for ranking.
 
If your on-page is not Good you are missing the low-hanging fruit. On-page is also .... easier and more straightforward with less discrepancy between people about what you should do to get results.

They are both important but if you dont have your keywords in your title and Htags and you arent linking between your pages then your money/time would be better spent getting your on page on point imo.

Well think that content its the most important factor for seo ,websites were created for content so i would say on page seo its more important at least in the beginning
 
Both are important. Without high quality content it's difficult.
 
Localy ? on page all te way , if you master on page you can truely do magic .
i recently created a website for restaurant in a big city with medium competition and done great on page seo on it it now gets 15 vistors per day organically from google .
the domain at this exact moment has 0 backlinks literally 0 and is outranking good domains
 
On page seo and off page seo both are important. You should focus on both .
