    Hey guys,

I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to on-page optimization, internal linking strategies, and just generally how to construct a solid seo structure for your website.

I definitely want to learn as much as I can so I have a solid foundation to work with for my backlinking campaign...

    So...

What are the best resources you've come across that address these issues?

Hey there rds3476! I myself have just come around to on page seo as it is a very important step in getting a higher rank on Google.

I'm no expert by any means, but I'd like to think of myself at least resourceful. There's a great tool on here called "Internet Business Promoter" I'll provide a link at the bottom of the post, but anyhow it gives you a really detailed report of your site and different things you need to change etc. etc.

IMHO even though it tells you what to do, if your just beginning your ventures into on page seo I would recommend TrafficTravis this tool was really helpful to me when I first started it's easy to use, and best of all it's free.

Now if your using Wordpress I would suggest a few plugins for seo purposes. Yoasts Wordpress SEO, Google Sitemap Generator, and meta seo pack.

Take a gander at everything hopefully some of this will help you, it surely helped me.

Edit: I can't link you the stuff, because I haven't been a member long enough :(

I hope this still helps you, best of luck!

Sorry, couldn't find that page... Thanks for posting it. I'll make sure I use the search box fully next time I post a question.

try setting up Google webmaster tools, and going to the Google webmaster blog. Most of the on-page stuff you find around here is pretty basic, and sometimes just flat out wrong. You can download the SEO Bible from Demonoid or any other torrent site, and it has the most detailed explanations of SEO from a whitehat standpoint. IBP and other recommended tools are pretty good, but sometimes they're too picky, and you'll drive yourself crazy trying to optimize your site.

    General Rules of Thumb:
    • Optimize your title tags
    • Optimize your H1 tags
    • Keyword density is a sham
    • Make sure your content is useful and unique
    • Don't use js in your navigation, keep it clean anchor text
    • Be selective about which links you want the search engines to follow
    • Make sure your entire site follows a consistent topic

There are a lot of other code-based optimizations that you'll have to focus on, and this is not really even a drop in the bucket. I would suggest picking up a few books, and reading some quality blogs about SEO.
