as an un vaxed person due to health issues i still like to keep up to
date on the variants and emerging hysteria i mean news.

now the UK Gov health people recently stated that although Omicron
cases were not presenting fatalities, just a minor cold and headache
as of now, they did expect cases to double every 2 days and reach
1 million cases by the end of Dec, hence another lock down and
booster drive...........then sky news posts the real official figures
of omicron cases for the last 14 days......that 1 million seems so close

Of the 3,137 Omicron cases that have now been reported in the UK, 2,953
cases have been reported in England, 159 have been reported in Scotland,
15 in Wales and 10 in Northern Ireland.

so lock down and booster drive for 3137 cases of omicron and no deaths -- madness

the speed growth isnt as fast as they predicted - there model predicted
1 million cases by the end of December. 14 days into this 28 days 3 thousand
is no where close to a million, even with the doubling every 2 days effect.

omicron a variant that causes a cold and still no deaths in a month
another lock down seems over kill, sure ask people to boost to the moon
but a variant causing only cold and flu symptoms shouldnt cause a lock down

That chart is pretty wild though, increase in cases is fucking fast man. Most cases are only from the past few days and there is quite the delay between getting infected and dying so you can't really claim that it isn't deadly, yet. If you think the models the government is using are wrong, what do you think will happen by the end of the month if there is no lockdown or other measures to reduce the spread? Am curious.

delta+ was is killing 100-150 a day in the uk
omicron no deaths, symptoms a cold n runny nose
we cant lock down for every new variant or we will all
go broke or dead on 100 un tested boosters

You gotta love when feelings and opinions are presented as facts. No matter which side presenting them.

I'm not arguing about the actual government response or the policies just the "fact" that the cases is no where close to 1 million.

I'm no mathematician so my calculation might be wrong. But I used an online tool to get a regression equation using the values from the plot and this was the results:

Regression Equation:	CASES=2.5304⋅1.5865^DAY
Correlation:	r=0.9831
R-squared:	r2=0.9665

Putting in 28 in the regression equation results in 1036362 cases. More than 1 million cases.
And from what I remember from my statistics class R-squared close to 1 is good. You have to calculate Beta and some other stuffs as well to be certain but I don't remember how to.

Once again, I'm no mathematician so my calculations might be wrong. But please do some research before reacting blindly to stuff you like or don't like.

6k = 2 days . 12k = 4 days . 6 days = 24k . 8 days = 48k
10 days = 96k . 12 days = 192k. 14 days = round up to 400k

not 1 million or half a million as we are already 14 days into the govs
28 day cycle and the first 14 days

I apologize, I missed that you wrote "they did expect cases to double every 2 days".

That means that your calculations is the correct one if we go by the "double every 2 day". However you also wrote "1 million cases by the end of Dec". 14 days from Dec 12 will only be Dec 26. 2 more days and we have 800k cases, and 4 more days we are up to 1.6 million cases.
