Omg! Google panda why?!?!

To all of you SEO's who are complaining about Google Panda. Is it a really a big deal or a lot of hype?

BUT FIRST, AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
a) I don't give a $hit about impressing you. I'm just showing newbs what CAN be done.
b) This is not a solicitation. So don't PM me.
c) For the average person I do not advice black hat. You CAN get away with it IF YOU KNOW HOW. That's a BIG "IF".
d) If you are doing SEO professionally don't use blackhat. Damaging a client's rep is not worth short term gain.
e) These were EXPERIMENTS ONLY on domains I was willing and financially able to lose. If you don't have the cash, don't place the bet.

So why did I post this? I keep seeing all of these OMG threads about Google Panda. It's not the algorithm that hit you hard, it's that your strategy sucked to begin with! If you designed things properly in the first place you would find that your serps lock in and rarely move regardless of the latest algo. update.

White Hat, Grey Hat, Black Hat. I've done it all (though, WH is my specialty) and can win any way... Let me re-iterate, this isn't a bragging post because I'm sure there are plenty of "Real SEO's" on this forum who can get away with sh!t too. I'm def. not the only one but, to all the newbs out there. GET A GRIP.

If your rankings drop, it's time to adjust your method.

I can show definitive proof as well that scrapped content can still rank well.

Panda was a reactionary move to go after a few big content farms to show their strong arm in the wake of the NY Times - JC Penny link hiccup.

**On a side note - I noticed in the paper that JC Penny was hiring a executive level marketing position to handle their SEO / Online campaigns. I have not had a job in 10 years, but I came close to applying for this one!

@monsterclicks: I had a few fortune 100's approach me over the last few years... They couldn't pay enough, lol. So I declined the offer. The biggest irony is that when I was a teenager, I wanted to work at Google... That was until I realized the profits by working against them

Google wants you to succeed, so stop working against them and work with them, and you will never be affected negatively by these kinds of updates.

I have only benefited in the SERPs from panda.

I wasn't implying that I "work against" them in a literal sense... More metaphorical... As in they work hard to prevent SERP spam and these EXPERIMENTS work hard to see how Google really ranks sites, what tactics work, which tactics fail. That kind of thing.


Ok, someone pm'ed me w/ the question of: "How do you monetize it?"...

a) These are experimental techniques often run at a financial loss. They are designed for me to learn more about how Google ranks and figure out methods of recreating the black hat effects in a white hat manner.

b) Now, obviously with this much traffic it would be painful for anyone to monetize. I myself have been toying with many models and advertising: cpa, text links, pop unders, banners, etc...

The choice of monetization will largely be dependent on:
- Your niche
- Your traffic volume
- The networks you work with

I won't be giving out my advertisers for obvious reasons but, really it doesn't matter a whole lot. Just focus on works best for your site. Every website is different and monetization methods will vary. During the corese of my experiment I actually found out that the "high paying interstitials" were killing my earnings. The users were getting pissed off and leaving the site. I disabled interstitial ads and my daily ad revenue DOUBLED almost instantly because, users were more engaged and checking out other pages. More pages = More ad views = More over all clicks / pop unders served.

Now, just because that happened with my site does not mean it will happen to yours. Depending on the type of content you have will effect how your users react.

- Article site
- Video site
- Blog site
- regular website
.... and so on.

Each audience finds a certain type of ad more useful then others. It'll take some time to get the right ad layout, ad network, ad formats, etc. down but, overtime you can optimize it for performance.

So far in my experiment I've gone through about 8 different ad networks and 4 ad formats + color variation. After about 1 month my earnings are up 400% by making the right decisions.

Seriously? Its the algorithm that fucked up the methods (that worked previously), not the other way around. Just because you got lucky your "golden method" works now, has no guarantee it will work in future algorithm updates. I have blackhat sites that are ranking in first spots for all of its targeted terms and other blackhat sites that dropped 5+ pages USING THE SAME FUCKING METHODS. How do I adjust for that? Your logic of "if algo updates fuck your shit up your methods must be bunk to begin with" is totally retarded and isn't even worth my time to refute.

@mudbutt: Umm... I've been doing this for 5yrs. No serious ranking losses sustained. So yeh, I'm pretty confident in my methods.

The trick is exploiting human logic. Google's goal is to emulate the human brain... So exploit that factor and see the future.

You adjust for it by monitoring competition. Each keyword has a different level of competitiveness, and the competitors are more active in fighting back on some terms and not at all.

I personally never use the same method twice. There are a certain set of concepts, and general principles one should abide by when link building or generating / ripping off content the details of which, I won't be explaining here. I would suggest you revisit your master strategy.

Your right, IF IT WORKED (100% that is) your other sites would NOT be effected. So while it seems your method is PRETTY GOOD, it's not flawless.

if it matters, panda didn't do much to boost or deter my sites, so I dont know what all the huffa is about.

Ok, so let's look at what the Panda update is really about...

A) killing content farms (primarily the major players - mid range players)
--> Some smaller sites effected but, not quite as much.

B) Page Load speed, Google's has lots of web pages to crawl ...Matt Cutts recently stated in one of his videos, that Google is putting extra emphasis on page speed.

C) Number of ads. Too many ads = bad. Google's spending more time watching out for the user experience. Choose your ads wisely.

D) Content quality levels... Did you notice on the side of Google you can now filter by reading level (WTF!?!?) yes, seriously I was shocked too!

--> What does this mean? Crappy content "MAY" not work "AS WELL".
--> It indicates that Google's NLP (nature language processing) algorithms have stepped up their game. Stay on your toes.

E) I've personally noticed Auto Approve comments not being "AS EFFECTIVE" they still work but, seems like they are getting hit a little bit more than usual.

I only gained from panda with my english websites but most of my sites are german and it still has not hit the german google. Will see then but i doubt it will effect me much.

I have clients from overseas... I usually find non US data servers are 24hr - 48hrs behind in updating their serp databases.

Not that hard. Diversify and you will see results.

I've gotten sites De-Indexed than Indexed like 20 times before I got to #1.

@PavillionOne: Because it's not a little bit of content. Doing what I did would have cost around $700min and as high as several thousand dollars in content writing and an untold number of hours.

Time & Money defeat the point of black hat. Also, you can utilize a number of techniques to evade detection or optionally you can use methods to become an "authoritarian" site where you will actually out rank the source author.

I do not understand why you would be bragging about big G sending you 700-1000 uv's a day.

I am more a noob then you and even get more then that on 3 week old new sites with crap content without any backlinking .

Not sure what the meaning of this post is but i am sure that more experienced people then us get a big laugh out of this ....

@Demon So is the point to this thread just to let people know that it's possible? I think most of us would agree with what you're saying but getting some insight into what is working now when it comes to backlinking would be really appreciated.

For me it seems like google has become a schizophrenic bitch. I can't seem to get a grasp on what's working and what's not. My results have been all over the map.

You mentioned another BHW member, are you using his services?
