Old sites VS. New sites

I'm going to start a webshop.

I have 2 options:

Option 1:
Use my newly registered domain and build a webshop from the scratch including building all the (back)links from start. Domain only costed me around 5usd so thats a pro

Option 2:
Try to convince the domainholder of a nice name to sell their domain to me for around 500EUR (718usd) The name is nice for me IMO. She may crack for 500eur and give it to me. Date registered: 09-06-2005
Thats a pro right? Older domains get ranked easier? Downside is I have to persuade her. I don't know if its possible

I ran a backlink check on the domain i want to buy:

domain-pop.com found:
Backlinks: 227
Domains: 54
IPs: 38

I don't know if these stats are any good since im new to SEO.

old domain tends to rank better, however it would cost more. its basically your choice, if you find that its worth it or not.

Well I think you must know first about the traffic from old domain you want to buy because traffic will affect the revenue for your online shop.
Does that domain have good traffic or not ? If yes, you could check whether that traffic could last for long time or not.
I am also newbie in SEO but I think if the domain has 227 backlink, it is good enough.
From the age side, I think it doesn't matter. The important thing is the keyword of domain and the traffic.

Also you must determine about the price. Is it worth if you compared with the result you will get from that domain.
