Old SAPE website?

Is it dangerous to buy a website on godaddy auctions that was obviously used in SAPE? It has a clean backlink profile, still indexed, but once I check the archive - someone had cloned the website and had been selling footer links that looked like SAPE.

Is this website safe to buy, or dangerous?

Avoid such sites which were used for link selling.
