Old outdated pages, redirect, delete them or something else?

Hey, I have this affiliate site and I don`t want to promote a product anymore on my site. I have about 10 pages of articles of the product. How should I remove them, do I redirect 301 the pages to my homepage or what is the best solution. Never done any redirects or removed pages and don`t now how to do that. Any tips would be great.

301 them to the next most relevant page, if you don't have anything that's close to the old page, 301 to the homepage
 
Yeah, redirect to a similar page. If you don't have one, make one that's targeted as closely as possible = more potential conversions.
 
I had a bad experience with redirecting such pages to the homepage...just sayin'.
