Old domains with history

Hi,

is it worth to buying old niche domains - first registered 2000, 2004 etc.. which cointained valid website, but then expired. Since then, somebody bought domain and did:

- PBN website
- Chinese content / Russian content
- Chinese parking
- Normal parking
- Redirect on another url
- Domain sale or auction
- error - domain not prolonged, webhosting info

My question is how this possibilities affect domain quality for now, even if domain still has clear domain profile and valid ranks.

For example I think that if there were PBN on domain, it is riscy to buy it. But maybe it's just my opinion and reality is different.

If I think about that, when domain was in their history spammy for some reason, then is affected with penalization lifetiem? Does it make sense?

It's really hard to buy domain with old history, which never cointained anything from list above.

I will just add to this.

Chinese parking is pretty much always a sign of domain being previously used as Japanese (It's not Chinese really) PBN. Archive just caught the parking page before the crawlers got blocked.

301 redirects are perfectly fine and safe. Massive majority of expired domains were redirected at some point in the past, whether you see it or not.

yes Japanese and Chinese are 2 different languages, like Portuguese and Spanish. It can be confusing to a European, as the Japanese language uses some Chinese characters, as well as 2 Japanese alphabets, plus a little of the European alphabet.
So you can buy a Chinese or Japanese expired like any other language, if it is clean. The thing is the Japanese like to buy expired domains and put garbage in them, so if you see a change of language from English to Japanese, it is a bad sign. But a site that was always Japanese could be very fine. Likewise Chinese. But it is harder to audit if you do not speak it (google translate can help).

Typically what you are talking about is a Chinese (or Japanese) person acquired an expired English site, put new content in his own tongue, then later let it expire. In general this is bad, you pass normally, as this was used as a PBN of some sort, then failed: not a good sign.

Just screen through the link profile and see for yourself whether it is clean or not. If minor (very small) amount of spam, then that should be fine.
If PBN - not necessarily it will have links pointing to the PBN link. If it has spam links, then 100% no. If very little amount of spam, but domain has authority, a big yes.
Make sure that the domain has big links like news site links, or a big social foot print. Otherwise, even if it's an old domain from 2000, but no links it's just another domain which you can pass on.
