Hello,

I had a wordpress blog and yesterday I moved the content from the free blog to paid hosting and domain. I have deleted all the content from the old blog but the posts are still indexed in search engines.
For the moment I have set the new blog, not to allow search engines to index the content because I'm afraid that it will mark it as duplicate content.
How long should I wait until is safe to allow indexing?

Thank you!

You should redirect the old posts to the new ones.

If you can't redirect because it was a free host, then delete the contents and add a link to the new address.

No need to worry, Google will sort it out for you. Try to delete your wordpress blog though if you can.

Don't worry; it will take some time but your old content will get de-indexed and your new content will get indexed.

Thank you! I could redirect. I saw something on the free host that would cost me $13 per year to do this but it's not worth the trouble because the blog had really low volume traffic.

Thank you! Yes I think I will manage to delete it if I can find the password to that old email used for that blog.

Thanks! It's actually the same content. I have exported it from the free hosted blog and imported it to the new blog with paid hosting and domain.

I'm doing this to obtain an adsense account. I have almost 90 articles (400-750 words). The last one was written in 2013.
My plan is to add articles again one per week and after 2-3 month promote the site with fb advertising for some traffic.

When I have some traffic, I would apply for an adsense account.

Do you think this will work, or should I wait at least 7-10 month before I apply for the account?

Thank you!

So once a blog is deleted the content can be posted right away onto a new site without risk of being duplicate content?

Nothing is instant. This stuff can take a couple of weeks or so to fully propagate. Google has limited processing capacity, and it's a damn big www, growing exponentially every day.

Like others have said, just delete your old content, since I don't think you can set up redirects on wordpress.com

You took an extra precautionary step in setting your new blog to new index... which is good, might not even be necessary, but better safe than sorry.

yeah.. better safe than sorry. Google may take weeks or month before they recognize that it is not a duplicate if you posted it too early

I'll probably delete my blog and then work on new posts on the new site and then after a month or so I'll add the old content to my new site.

Just an update. I have added the old site to a webmaster tools account and I have removed everything from G index. 80 pages were removed in 2-3 hours.
