Hey Guys!

Just wanting to get the general opinion from some experienced blackhatters on an issue I'm wrestling with.

Long story short, this time last year I have a niche site that was doing quite well - for around 3 months it was earning about $800 - $1,000 per month.

The content I wrote for the site was good (I think) and genuinely useful but in a severe act of noob idiocy I over-optimized everything (including anchors) and got a giant WHACK for it.

I've since let that domain expire and have moved on to other projects but now I'm thinking I might like to revisit that same niche with another year's worth of experience under my belt.

The competition is exactly that same in that niche and no 'new players' are on the scene. All the sites that are in the Top 10 are the same sites I beat for the #1 spot around 12 months ago.

What I'd like to know though is, if I buy a whole new clean domain and start again, would I safely be able to use some of that quality content from the ORIGINAL site on this new incarnation? I'd obviously be adding some new stuff too but I've perhaps got 20+ good articles here that would slot straight in.

Do any of your have first-hand experience with this type of scenario?

I'd love any constructive feedback and opinions :)

Thanks in advance, guys!

I believe you can do this... When Google allows you to disvow links and work on quality content then whats the problem with fixing quality or over optimization of site. You could have fixed it earlier and asked Google to reconsider...

Anyway you can work on new domain with old content, Just fix issues with content first and then post it on new domain.

I wouldn't even risk it. Duplicate content and all is pretty damaging.

If only you could put an old head on new shoulders...

When I was first penalized I know now what I should have done but I got caught up in 'Panda/Penguin' hysteria and just assumed that I was a victim on the almighty Google-crackdown.

Does ur old site got deindexed from big G? If so, i think u can put the old content on your new domain, just because someone else post such method to look for the old expired content in archive.org and steal it.

But i don't know whether this doable or not, need others clear this doubt too.

I think you can do that if your content doesn't exists anywhere else in Google

You can reuse content from a penalized domain if the reason for the penalty wasn't the content quality. However, if your site was penalized for the content published on it and you've resolved the issues, you can reuse the same content.

Your old site must be deindexed by now, yeah? If so, then you don't need to worry about any duplicate content penalties at least.

Use google to check for a few sentences in your article, if it can't find them anywhere you're good to go, it's like new fresh content.
