Yes old one was better, with some modifications to the old one it would be perfect.
 
You will get used to the new one in a few days OP. I know I'm gonna miss the 'This post has been thanked by the following 200 people" with the list of members. Thats compacted now and the thanks/like button isn't very prominent anymore either.
 
for the most part i like the new look, but i hate the way badges "hook" into the avatars...i thought it was a UI quirk but it turned out to be a design feature. ughhh

When I was beta testing the forum, I thought the badges were overlapping as well until I saw they were just hooking into the side of the avatar.

They don't bother me as much any more, although I thinking rounding off the corners a bit would help out.

The badges for Jr. Execs and Jr. VIPs are the same colour (and both say Jr. VIP), although the usernames are a different colour. The Jr. Exec colour is the same as before, although the Jr. VIP username is lighter and more purple than the old one.

BHW is soo much faster! Can't argue. And mobile? Check!
 
The Alerts link on the top right is awesome as its realtime, don't have to go hit the Settings link anymore to see whats new

Hey man, I'm right there with you, and this isn't the first time we've gone through this. If they irritate you, just ignore them. Constructive feedback is tricky around a community this large; not everyone is skilled in expressing their thoughts, not everyone speaks english as a first language, and entitlement is a bitch. It's all part of the feedback process.
 
It does not look bad. Not only will we get used to it, but I'm sure certain features will be updated as time goes by (for example, nicer VIP badges).

The strangest part for me is not seeing "Thanks" below posts anymore. It made it really easy to quickly identify worthwhile posts when scanning a thread.

Either way, cheers to the future: embrace change, or become extinct like the dinosaur.
 
I miss the old thread star rating system . I just went to the "my journey" section and I quickly realized about it. I normally focus there on reading established quality journeys, and stars help eyes to find them. Now it´s hard to discriminate good journeys from bad ones.
