    PAGEVIEWS 40,300
    CLICKS 66
    CTR 0.16
    CPC 0.25

    £16.31

    pretty shit right?

I've had adsense on my site for one and half months now and that's the total earnings so far. I have done no seo or promotion yet. All my traffic is natural search engines hits, a lot of image traffic.

No trickery or black hat on the site or off. Just adding content.

I have 300 x 250 text/image, site wide on the right hand side. I have a small banner text/image on the top of all posts, above the post title.

Both those ads are top of the fold.

And I have a horizontal link unit on my category pages (a lot of traffic) but this ad seems to be crap! hardly any clicks have been counted, even tough my stat counter is counting the clicks. And the clicks that google do count are 0.1 or 0.2 << this ad block is gotta go!

My site is an image based site but not funny images. I'll jut say its similar too wall papers and backgrounds. I now know image based sites are not that great at getting clicks but is there any way of improving the performance adsense? I have another idea to make money via the site but want to explore all avenues.

    many thanks

image traffic is good but low quality , but easy to rank and get traffic that way, not bad if you "scale it up" someone count on how many times that is said on bhw

I would only suggest that you do not disclose your information such as:

    CTR
    CPC
    RPM

As you might get your account banned for that...

You should try SEO, PPC, or another way to promote the site. Perhaps your earnings will rise.

I will and of course, if I get more traffic the clicks will go up naturally, but I presume the CTR would be around the same?

    I get between 700 - 1200 visitors a day already.

Dude, I'm pretty much in your exact situation right now. I've hit a wall too and monetizing through Adsense isn't going as good as it used to.

I'm currently using CrazyEgg to heatmap my website and place ads according to that and also using the stats on Adsense to find out which ads give me the most money/clicks. I've found that no matter how I place my ads on category pages, no one is interested in them. My CPC is low too so that just seems to be the problem. I don't get as much pageviews as you in a day, so you should definitely reassess your ad placement. Take a look at using CrazyEgg, I'm on a 30 day free trial right now. Map out how users look at your site and change ad placement based on that.

it is not always about ad placement. It has to do with relevant ads based on your content. Less content = less ads that people want to click on. It is not about tricking your audience it is about engaging them with offers and services of similar value to what you offer.

P.s Image sites suck balls. Don't bother to get involved in that mess

I agree with that! I wish I had thought I knew that before I started.

That's the problem, my website does not have niche related ads, and the ads that do show for that niche are pennies! Its not medical or finance.

I get ad sometimes witch show protein powder ads because I have searched google for that term. That was my thinking with this site. Its a numbers game I think.

With image sites the best way is to use an ad rotators PLUS 1-10 slide that the page refreshes everytime they hit next. This creates ten page views. 1000 page views = small but yet a payout indeed.

The 1-10 is basically a "See ten pictures of why you should sit when you pee" Then show one picture and then force them to click next 9 more times to cycle through the rest.

Just an Idea and my opinion .

I seen lately few sites has floating adsense banners and until now still running
but I think its too risky and you will be banned sooner or later
keeping it safe I just follow normal ads procedure

I like this idea for image sites.
