Personally, I can't stand the smell of Cool Water or Joop.
My favs are most of the DolceGabannas and currently Carolina Herrera CH is my #1 fav. Gucci has some good ones too.

The thing about "old" smells triggering memories is good too... Old spice is what my grandpa wore, so I think that one is a turnoff, but Polo - that's what the guys wore when I was in high school, and it always makes me happy to smell it.

CK Be by Kalvin Klein - try this in the day. Its fresh and not too powerful smell.
Joop - is for wearing in the night at a club or something. Its manly, powerful and the girls will love it. My brother used to wear it.
Versace Blue Jeans - dinner at a fancy restaurant or some special occasions. Sweet & elegant smell.

What I used to do was to spray 2-3 jets of perfume on a small piece of paper and put it in a clean plastic bag with a set of clothes(jeans + (t)shirt + jacket, or whatever you want to wear) and leave it there for 24 hours. But do not pack the clothes in the bag, just throw them there so the perfume can penetrate and close the bag. You'll iron them after.
Or, instead of the paper use an empty bottle of perfume that still smells...
This way all set of clothes will smell the same, not just the collar of your jacket/shirt.
Do this and when you are with the girl offer to give her the jacket to keep her warm or just find an excuse to make her hold your jacket for a few minutes.
She will fall in love with you instantly.

U should split test a bunch of broads in a club. Put a different scent on each wrist and walk about asking them which one they prefer, not only will u be collecting valuable data backed up by solid drunken girl statistics, but it will also be a great ice breaker.

If they happen to hate both fragrances, offer them a third,special "columbian cologne" on the cistern of the club toilets, chopped up with a crisp dollar bill, you''l be plungin' the clunge in no time brother.
