Bro if you have nothing useful to say then dont say it. You havent been around the IM block enough to realize this shit is all a numbers game. I ve known people that one day they are making dollars and pennies, a few months later they are making hundreds a day.
And how the ******** is this blacklisting, i dont see any blackhat into what he is describing. Simply put Local SEO is the easiest SEO to rank for due to most of them low competition.

There is no address twit. Catch them on the homepage with enticing visuals and well written copy, then they call a number that I have set up to be routed to my phone of choice.

At the OP - Don't let them get you down. A lot of people will trash on something until they have experienced it themselves.
I personally have been involved in Local SEO from the day I saw the opportunity and I agree with the OP 100%.
Local SEO is one of the most lucrative ways to make a lot of money extremely quickly.
It's also very easy to make money because there is almost no competition for anything out there, and the opportunities are endless. In fact, a lot of the times, just buying a domain for your KW will get you ranked.
Add in some basic promotion and backlinking like the OP pointed out and you are ready to go.
There are also endless ways to monetize your sites. If done things from selling targeted leads, re-directing to affiliate offers, and even selling the sites and my SEO services to local business for premium pricing.
The opportunities are only limited by your creativity really.

/agree. And don't worry, tools like that guy don't get me down at all. I could pull more in a few weeks than he could in a few years. I literally just wanted to share my experience and give some pointers.

I agree local SEO is pretty simple. Just to piss off the 2 local SEO firms I registered (mytown)searchengineoptimisation.com - added it to my link buildng list - stuck an auto blog on it - and wrote an SEO article trashing the 2 other guys in town, debuted at #6 and 3 weeks later was #1.
I'm too busy with my own stuff to do SEO for anyone, plus I hate dealing with SEO customers, but I think of it as my insurance in case my main site gets delisted or sandboxed.

Trying to sell globally in my pajamas without having to do any phone selling, cold calling, face-to-face meetings, etc. is very attractive on paper, but it's damned hard to get traffic when you have 10,000+ competitors.
Ranking for local terms is so damned easy. It's selling the service/leads/site that I suck at.
Here's a tip: only contact the businesses that are buying Adwords or are on G page 2 - 5 for your kw. They obviously want traffic (most businesses could care less about IM), and are not getting great results from PPC and their page 2+ rankings.
I'd have to guess the OP has targeted cosmetic surgeons or attorneys. $50 a lead is extremely high.

Because i have experienced similar with google places but never experienced organic in 5 days.
