Oh, link mavens

I'm in a situation that is new to me. I can't get links for my FinTech site. Actually, it's for personal loans and no one wants to link with me. over 97% of all of the existing links are either
broken or nofollow. I've tried stealing some from our competition but they are exactly the same. I just want higher quality links that we have, now, without paying for them (Because that's just a bunch of nofollow's, too!). Finances, personal finances, Canada: these are my niches. Any ideas, experts? TIA
