Offshore Hosting & Domain Name Question

Hi all, I've had an idea about a site I would be interested in building. It requires offshore hosting for certain reasons.

But the domain I want to use is registered in my name and address.

Do any of you build offshore sites with the domain registered to you?

However, I really wanted to use this brandable domain that I own.....
 
Better register another domain in someone's name or use whois protection.
But it depends on what you do.

I do have whois protection on the domain. Would that be good enough?

It really depends on what the domain will be used for exactly.

You've gotta think: Will it be bad enough for whichever law enforcement to subpoena your domain name registrar for your real information?

For something that miniscule, I don't know why you'd need offshore hosting.

However, I'd imagine the first thing they do, depending on the legality of what you're hosting/doing with that imagery, is send a cease & desist.

I'd not want my name connected in any way for something that would get me realistic jail time. I can deal with fines, but jail time is just an annoyance.

Unless you're selling civilian data or something, I'd say you're going with offshore + privacy.
 
If you want to remain anonymous and not give any detail of your address, name etc you can use

Your data is not required, you can pay anonymously and safely.

If you want "Offshore Domain" you can pay with crypto payments then use this (njal.la is considered also)

Both are safely, but I recommend you choose a ccTLD than TLD.. ccTLD is more secure and safe, but .org is more hard to seize.

Hey @Deleted member 1393709. Flokinet told me that .is domains are not as safe as they were before as of law changes and that every domain registrar offering privacy services can take your domain as the domain will be registered in their name. Does this mean that they are similar to njalla? How safe is a .is domain in April 2022? Is it still a good TLD? How does it compare to .ru or .su? Are the russian domains better than .is? I see that you've reccomended .cr ... how good is that compared to .is and where can I get a .cr domain that is anonymous?

Well to be honest, it will depend of what website you are using and which content, and of course where country you live.

At this moment to be honest .ru can be a good choice, due to the war and because of this:

When domain is register in their name of Flokinet or Njal.la, that is good thing. Your information won't be there, only IP and Email and payments.
But info in whois of domain is not from you, that is good choice and strategy.

At this moment TLD is different of ccTLD.. ccTLD is for countries domain names.

.ru is a good choice, but you will need to buy from a good and anonymous source.
.cr is a excellent alternative, until now I didn't see any seized domain, is not hard, but isn't easy to do it.
.su is one of hardest domain to be seized, unless all countries is involved in such things and operations.

So, I think .cr will be fine for you. But always have a backup domain for those things. .is is also a good choice, but if flokinet advices that is because they know about that. But you can still try, is better .is than .com or .net =)

If is a serious and legal project, forget anonymous service, go with any domain register and use your real information instead Anonymous.

If you are hosting offshore for legal reasons you may or may not want the domain tied to your real identity, obviously depends on the situation. If you don't then use a different name. You could go:

Whonix/TOR + anon crypto payment (monero, ideally) + anon registrant details + use domain extension that allows whois protection + domain registrar and extension from country of best legal juristiction for your situation

Be sure to follow the law :)

Everything is fine, but keep in mind that using Anonymous you can lose your domain due to being register in other name.
But that is a risk you need to assume, then privacy is the best feature of that part.

For legal projects, is better to use it under your name.

Hi, im not sure if i should be starting my own thread or just joining this one as i am in a very similar situation.

I have already registered a .com domain at godaddy a couple of years ago with whois privacy and paid for it using my credit card and real name and address.

But now i want to start a typical niche adult tube site and after reading lots of adult tube journeys on here i realize i should have bought the domain as anonymously as possible.

so now my question is this (because i want to keep that .com and use it now but somehow make it anonymous from now onwards):

If i register on namecheap, can i use fake name and address and pay with whichever is the most anonymous payment method e.g bitcoin,monero etc

and then

transfer the .com domain i registered on godaddy a couple of years ago to myself on my new and much more anonymous namecheap account.

Will that transferred .com domain which is now at namecheap now be completely untraceable to me now as the new anonymous namecheap user would appear as the new owner of that .com domain?

Or would all the previous history and previous owner details, which i used when registering it on godaddy, still be connected to that .com forever and could be used to find out my identity even though its now owned by a new anonymous owner on namecheap?

Whois data for the domain will remain anonymous to the public. However in extreme cases if someone wants to take legal action against the domain, they can order godaddy to reveal your account details. But as I said, thats in very extreme cases.

Yeah that makes sense, but that would reveal the identity of the owner that registered it at godaddy which was me 2 yrs ago.

But now what if that .com domain gets transferred to the new anonymous namecheap account also with whois privacy.

When they try to find out the identity of the new owner its been transferred to, they will only see the new fake name and address and payment via crypto wont they? they wont be able to link the godaddy owner info to the new fake namecheap owner?

Basically im trying to disconnect myself from the domain by transferring it to a new anonymous account so i can still be the owner but on namecheap but this time setup properly to be fully anonymous, you know kind of like how they do with crypto tumblers.

They will be because the domain name remains the same wherever you transfer it. There are free domain history tools online. Enter any domain there and see the details for yourself.
 
before you do anything run the name on whoxy.com and see if your address and information is in the domain history before you purchased the privacy if so transfer the domain to another account without privacy with fake information to protect yourself :)
it will show on whois that the information has been changed and the domain is at another registry incase of any trouble you can claim that you have sold it on any forum

If they do a history search, they will be able to see the old GoDaddy info and the new current who's privacy info. They should not be able to link the GoDaddy info with the new fake name cheap info unless they are really really really desperately after you. In that case, if namecheap was to reveal your info, it would be fake. However, it would also show that the domain was transferred from GoDaddy hence linked to you. Honestly I think you should be more concerned with anonymous hosting rather than your domain.
