Hello,

consider selecting this website for your offshore advice: http://tinyurl.com/offshoreadvisor

I'm with ximscreamingx here... I hear uptownbulker is the man to chat with on this subject. If not mistaken, he has a post about it somewhere in bhw.

If a person was to sell replica products like watches etc. Would it be wise to get a LLC or Corp to protect ones personal items and assets just in case they get sued by brand owner?

If what you we're doing was illegal I don't think that LLC/Corp protection would apply to you anyway, best to ask a lawyer about that.

If you wanted an offshore corp it would probably be safer to set it up in person as opposed to doing it online or email. Same thing with correspondence, either pick it up in person or else you would probably need a 2-3 tier (snail) Mail Forwarding setup to hide the offshore postmark.

Most mail is scanned and foreign postmarks (tax havens, terrorist countries) will raise flags, be careful in the post-911 era with the Patriot Act. Could cause some unwanted aggravation.

Yeah I would be careful with the offshore.

IMO since replicas can be legal I would second the checking with your lawyer then set up a Corp in the US.

Considering you want to stay low key I would consider Uptown's offer, seems like people have had good luck with his service.

Thanks for your advice. I checked out the legalzoom.com website and called to incorporate, but they said the service is no longer available. It's a shame since it seems like their option was the cheapest. Anyway, I just opened an account with nevislegal.com and have had smooth sailing so far. I got a bank & merchant account setup. Good for business since no one seems to care what I do oversesas. One thing is, they discourage opening a corp in Panama saying its fallen off. Any ideas?
