After 6 years an internet marketer I think I?ve finally struck gold. Several months have seen me reading all kind of success story on this section. During my own ?action taking? I have used this many techniques I read on this forum. My success story was achieved using this simple script I pick up somewhere?cant actually remember where?

MY MARKET
HERE the market is just waiting to be tapped. HERE everybody is going crazy with this internet/browsing trend. Social media sites like facebook, twitter, and other dating forums are all experiencing huge sign ups. And some savvy business owners have seen the potentials in this internet craze

MY SERVICE
Web Design: This is the service im presently offering to my esteem clients. I simply give them good reasons to get their business online and they are sold!

I have had over 90% success rate with this script. What im about to share is no big deal as im sure its been share here before. The point is I was able to use just a simple script to get appointments.

MY SCRIPTS
Firstly before I tell you my script, let me first tell you how I got my clients. To get my clients, I go to my local business directory. There are many of them but I just like this particular one? This directory is a business listing directory. This directory is massively embarking on radio, television and newpaper advertisements and they also have foot soldiers who go from company to company for registration. Right now they have a good database of businesses they?ve registered.

So I simply log onto this site, depending on whom I feel like speaking with I typed the niche into the search string of this site, something like "hotels" and What do I get?

- all the registered hotel names in that area
- addresses and location [with google maps]
- names of business owners/person in charge
- telephone nos of business owners /person in charge
- updated email addresses
- website uls [if they have]

so what I do is to call the business owners, introduce myself, and offer them my services .remember I told you that this is an untapped market. Most business owners are actually looking out for people with internet experience to help them achieve online presence. And its like you just walk into their life at the right time.

This is the script I use whenever im calling on business owners WITHOUT a website
?hello my name is ??.. and im from ??solution network, we are actually calling to ask if you will like us to design a website for your business. For free! This actually unsettle them and they becomes curious?my explanation on why we are offering the service for free makes them think they are actually the one who is doing me a favor.

?we are actually shoring up our project of works so we could compete favorably with others web designers in the country. We are hoping to get a much bigger contract from the local govt if we have a good numbers of finished projects. We though if we have your business website as one of our work it will really boost our chance of getting the contract?

This is just my simple script of getting a one-on-one contact with the business owners.
With this script I have not had ANY rejection so far?and I have closed as many deals as I can handle. All I show when im with my prospects is just a demo sample of how their website will look like when finished.

i get demo samples from theme directories. i do not add anything to the demo, i just bookmark it and when im sitting with my prospect i open it for him/her to see and they always like it. then i ask them to provide me with pictures, contents, and a ?HOSTING FEE?. I charge $500+ [equivalent].

These business owners think my charges are very cheap?which truly is. And the fee is a yearly plan. I know many of you will think I?ve really come so low with the price. But the truth is, there is a big difference between the dollar currencies and HERE?s currency. For the past 14 days i have started using this script, I have created 12 sites. And there are still many on the queue im still yet to touch.

It usually take me between 5-6 hrs to create a site. All I do is get some good themes from theme directories [this is the only expense] and tweak it to my clients taste. At times in a day I can create 2 sites. Although I do encounter some themes that prove very difficult to handle, in such cases I take them to fiverr and get it done.

Right now I have 2 designers also from fiverr who im partnering with whenever the workload get heavier. Let me also say that I do not know much about designing a site before, I only watch some ?how to? videos on youtube and right now it has proven to be very helpful.

I also have a script that is working for me whenever I called on business owners that already have a website. I will write something on that at another time, right now I have already written a long but hopefully useful post.

I think there are opportunities for as many people who can muster the boldness and speak about online marketing in plain language to local business owners.

I think i have to give it a try. At the moment i sell my webdesign services to bigger clients for big money. But to get the deal is not as simple as it sounds .

The free-strategy is a good possibility to make some deals with small-business owners. All of them have only one thing in mind: low costs, low costs, low costs...

Thanks for this.

hmmm i want to try this out but i kinda suck at script(can't talk with confidence)anyways this is a nice method OPand i think many will face problems at finding the clients(business owners)go to manta.com there are loads of clients waiting for you

the reason i use this script is to make sure i get the business owners attention and also get an appointment. it is a different ball game altogether when im sitting right there in their presence. i think i have this confidence to talk about their business because i know that i am providing a solution to their online problem

and again most of these owners really needs experience people to give direction on how to stay afloat their business. apart from me designing website, i also tell them more about facebook timeline, facebook business page, and also google places.these are tools that can impact possitively on their business

manta does not give enough details like the name,phone nos [so i belive] like the local directories we have HERE. Being confident with what you know is the real key here. if you are not confident with your speech then no business owners will trust you with their biz.

Great Post and thanks! Will try this and probably tweak it into some other services I supply!

Thanks! Great information there! A nice twist on an original method :) I will try something like this, but I'll probably add my own twist. Thanks again!

i've actually stopped using this script as of yesterday...during my discussions with the business owners i make sure they agree to give me a referal for my low charges and they are happy to do this for me...i make sure i get a commendation letter/testimonial of good work. this i make sure is written with their hand writing and on their company's letter headed paper. i then laminate and take them along whenever i have an appointment. presently i have some good testimonials signed by this men and women.

so my next move is to visit these contacts/referals [i have already booked appointments with some...its so easier when you have a referal...just a mention of my referee opens door for me so far...] i intend going to this owners and show them the testimonials i have gotten so far, this im sure it will break down every defense they might have build up.

my charges will also change. i will no longer focus mainly on designing a website for $500+ but also monthly maintanance will be included. this im hoping to charge #100/monthly. and if they want me to give a discount on the design they should be ready to give me a testimonial and a referal if they find my work to be of good quality.

I love this method man! Gonna try this this summer and see how it goes, I already did a projection sheet, looks promising if you can sell!

this method is no big deal...it all depend on your confidence. if you ask me which is more difficult between making the call and visiting the clients for appointment i will say it is making the call...there is no perfect script to doing this...most owners really want a hand to get sales online and if you know your onions you can get them to handle that aspect of their biz to you

I'm totally for the monthly fee, here where i live, the 3rd largest city in the USA, there are hundreds of companies that offer websites for stupid low prices. While I'm sure I can deliver a website of much higher quality, how can I justify recurring rates to the client. I have a few ideas off the top of my head like maintenance, hosting, contact forms, email/txt opt-ins, editing, and Google places/local setup for 80/month.

The problem is that I don't know when i'm undervaluing myself, like i am now..... I just feel that websites are MUCH harder to set up recurring charges on than say... SEO services.

i think setting up a recurring charges on SEO is much easier than say web design. with web design you can only go for a one time set up fee/yr.

if you really want to get value for your worth you need to first get

1. a testimonial from your client [cheap client]
2. then you need to ask for a referral from your client.

you need to ask for referrals every time you finish up a project. you can only ask for your true worth from whom you are referred to. since your referee has given you good testimonial on how good you are with what you do it will be quite easy for you to ask him to pay your worth.

to these business owners asking for hosting fee alone is like an opportunity they want to seize immediately and asking them for a yearly payment also makes it look so cheap to cough out [500$]. they are not stupid...they will only go along with you if they believe what you told them about their business and how you will help the business grow, if you are not convincing enough even if you ask for zero payment they will mot give you the job.

You could even go the lengths of offering a smaller site say like 3 pages for free and then charge a premium for a bigger site along with hosting. As for selling SEO all that can be an upsell along with management of the site. This is a nice way selling a website in my opinion because if you get reseller hosting for cheap somewhere you'll be making your money ten fold doing this.

My observations about this post...as well as the general topic it leads into:

1. Web Design IS a much needed benefit to any new and/or existing business that has yet to come into the 21st century and start using the 'internet' to get more customers...and/or...branch out into new areas!

2. Provide valuable insight into the BENEFIT(s) of a website to any business owner who does NOT already have one, and getting them to 'host the site' through you should be an easy sell!

NOTE: As I've heard over and over again not only on this forum but others as well, when it comes to getting a 'sale', regardless if it's a sale online or offline, those who have the most success are those who can effectively sell a 'benefit' that the end-user/business owner will get IMMEDIATELY, rather than later!

3. To get one's foot through the proverbial 'door', it's best to start with something that to the business owner would be an immediate benefit, such as a website/hosting, for whatever cost you want to charge, whether it's FREE or somewhere between $200 and $500 dollars, and then build off of that by offering ADDITIONAL BENEFITS...or as us 'interment marketers' refer to as 'up-sells', such as:

* SEO Services
* Lead Capture/Email Marketing
* Social Media Management
* Online Reputation Management
* Etc., Etc., Etc.,

4. Once you've established yourself as the 'go-to-expert' for one business, then it's just a matter of time before being in a position to start getting referrals!

As the old saying goes, people LOVE to talk about the 'good services' they receive! Matter of fact, I can almost bet that at least one time in YOUR LIFE you referred someone to a particular restaurant, dive-bar, local attraction, etc.,etc., and did so w/out even thinking about it! This is the sort of thing that will eventually happen to the business owner who YOU happen to be working with!

5. Stop being NEGATIVE about what someone else charges or does in exchange for a given price and start TAKING ACTION yourself! You'll be surprised by how far you can get when you just start putting one foot in front of the other!

PS: To the OP...thanks for the 'script'...I see a few areas where it can be 'tweaked' in order to get local clients a bit more interested in my services, which should lead to closing more sales/appointments and in the long run, getting out of the tired "9-to-5" rat-race job I currently find myself in as I build up/out my local SEO business!

Hey OP, great idea.. I like the fact that you attract them with the free offer and then cover the charges with the sales pitch and hosting charges..

Just a quick question... You mention you're going to create the website for free but then charge them $500?

sorry i did not reply earlier...

The essence of this technique is to get to the bigger clients and earn the big money. And the best way I believe will work for me or any other person is to firstly shore up my portfolio of works with credible testimonials. And I usually get this every time I offer to design their website for free. Designing and hosting a website are two different task.

Just today, while I was with a new client, I only showed him my portfolio of completed website designs and he was sold. Its quite easier getting work now.

If you eventually completed the work always ask for a referral! This is how you can really get the big fish... so to speak, it is from the people you were referred to that you can actually charge your normal fee.

I hope im making sense...
