So I'm doing SEO services and I can rank websites but I guess my sales need help. I get interest but when a client calls and asks about my services I seem to lose interest after that. I ask them for their website and tell them I'll do some research and get back to them. I then lookup good keywords and get back to them but I don't seal the deal.

What do you guys usually do on that first phone call with them if they contacted you about seo services. Maybe I'm going over too much and I should just say I can rank them. I'm thinking less might be more, I guess I'm just getting stuck on transitioning them to a service. Do you guy's go over keywords? Or you just tell them you can rank them higher for related keywords. Any advice is helpful.

    Thanks.

Maybe you can give the client a statistic on how you can improve their page rank. For example, within this period of time, their page rank will be increased to this rank. But you should only tell them the realistic figures so that you will not look like a scam. Good luck!

I would suggest not taking on or talking to new clients until you get your buzz back

Try different strategies, ie maybe your giving them the wrong information when calling them make, try presenting something different, maybe put a brief powerpoint together and email them that or if they are local you could set up a meeting for some face to face time etc. its like split testing but not on the internet

Check out Taktical's post. He has free sales documents with interesting graphs and some other info to help sell local SEO services. The documents are good in my opinion and help present the seller as professional.

Talk about the benefits, such as this keyword receives XXX amount of searches monthly. If you were ranked 1st or in the top 3, you could expect XX-XXX Quality Visitors to your site. Then get them thinking about how much a new client is worth, and how many clients they could pull out of that new traffic. Don't oversell though.

Once they see the potential of SEO, they'll be much more willing to sign.

Having been a consultant before I find that building trust is the way to sales. If you can demonstrate to them what you can do for them, perhaps with real stats from a previous SEO job, then they'll be more likely to believe that they will receive value for the money they spend on you.

What about linking your fee to their performance improvement? Just make sure that you can track whatever the chosen metric is w/out them.

Why do you want to talk about keywords? keywords, page rank and competition are not something most of the clients are worried about. They need traffic and reputation. Tell them you can improve their organic SE traffic and work on their online reputation. That is what they want to hear.. do it and everything else will fall in place.

I don't do nothing more than showing Google Analythics stats of some previous sites- before seo and current stats. Numbers speak for themselves, doing local seo in small country is easy and ranking is faster but they dont know it so I can cap them to minimum 3 to 6 month of services. If they are still thinking, I give free creating of basic social media accounts on google +, google maps, facebook fan page, linkedin, twitter, tumblr, Squidoo lense, blog on wordpress etc - I would create those accounts anyway for future seo services but they don't know that and they are happy.

    "AVOID PHONE CALLS :)"
Just tell them about the problem that you see in their website in a mail and describe the bad effects that can happen for those problems.
then offer them a very attractive offer.
you have to do it very quickly. then you will get your client.

Be smart if you are weak in one specific area, just reverse your competitors.

Pick the best seo companys on your city or country and call them faking a business men and copy their sales strategies.

Well, I normally just get back to them with my recommendations and I recommend we ask to speak in person. Speaking in person seals the deal most of the time. So encourage them greatly to meet in person. I say that the KW research I have done is the first batch of it, and that I'll refine it when we start the process. That way you get to charge them for it to! :)

The clients I get mostly are very wary of spending money on SEO, because it costs them a similar amount to what they spent creating their website. They didn't expect to be paying this money for advertising, so they are already annoyed that they are spending the money on advertising. So they often want to see some SPECIFICS. They want to see big traffic/search numbers (or at least think they are big). That is why it is important to do KW research for potential clients, so you can use it to sell them the worth.
