    Hello BlackHatWorld,
This isn't exactly the thing that's often mentioned here but I thought I would get some ideas off people.

I've just landed a sales job for selling Solar Panels. My jobs only requirement is appointment setting. I go door-to-door and convince the home owner to make an appointment with my team leader who then converts the sale.

My commission per sale is $300.00 wether I sell the smallest package or the biggest it's irrelevant. There's absolutely no retainer so I need to start making sales the first week I head out.

My team leader told me I can make appointments via phone calls, door to door or any legal method I can think of.

Things I've thought about so far (besides going door to door):

    - Bandit Signs (Signs you see stuck in the ground in high traffic places)
I'm thinking that once the whole sales process is complete and the solar panels are installed I will head back to the household and offer them a "rebate" for letting me place a bandit sign on their lawn for "x" time period. The bandit sign would say something like "We're saving ??% on electricity with solar panels! Call Anon today to get started!"

    - No Obligation Qoutes (Flyers, Dropcards)
Placing flyers under windscreen wipers, on notice boards and drop cards in mail boxes (for people who arn't home) Will have to check legal information for Australia.

The target audience is Homeowner, Powerbill over $350 and Middle aged.

My question / purpose for the thread.

Do you have any advice? Any ideas to generate more appointment settings etc? Thanks.

I have worked within the solar energy market selling both pv and thermal systems the two main benefits I focused on are the long term investment benefits and eco friendly benefits. Here is an example / sales trick I have used many times (which does work!) I used to strike up conversation when someone was clearly not interested I would ask them a simple question "do you own a car"? one of the reason I ask that question in particular is to throw them off guard. Of course once they go ahead and say yes I would proceed to ask them that if I could guarantee that for the next 20-25 years you will pay the same price for your fuel as you do now would you take that offer? Naturally many will say yes (even if with a bit of hesitation) from which you can then guide them into the understanding you are doing the same just for their electricity and or heating. I hope this helps you also feel free to send me a private message if you would like some more help I have plenty of experience in this area.

Hey TumbleDry to share some recent experience about bandit signs. Me and a business partner purchased 1000 signs about two months ago and have since, gone all throughout Arizona in select neighborhoods and we have over 80 leads within our industry. Keep in mind we are in the real estate industry so one lead is around $4,000. But most of the lead wont qualify for our service for a couple of years, but still very effective especially with the type of real estate we are involved in.

But I can assure you they work well.

Also another note: we invested over $15,000 on flyer campaigns and thank goodness we had investors as well because we have only had about 2 leads in total from that.

Tip: I wouldn't do freeway access as they get taken down very very freakn fast! Haha we tried that about 3 weeks ago and it sucked! But do research on your market and find neighborhoods that fit the criteria. In my case "crappy neighborhoods" haha but wishing you the best of luck buddy! :)

This sounds very familiar from when I was in the TimeShare sales industry. However solar/geo-thermal is a much better product IMO!!

1000 signs and 80 leads means your copy sucks.... I'm in real estate myself and generate 20-30 calls per sign
and every lead gets turned into profit whether we use them for a deal or not.

You are a graphic designer/printers dream ......at $15,000

AdWords isn't cheap for solar panels but you can give it a try. There's a new feature (call-only) where you can optimize your campaign to get calls.

Thanks for sharing. I'm in the carpet business. Would bandit signs also work to sell carpet for an appealing price?
