Offline method - make money capturing stray animals

This method is so simple, I can't believe I didn't think of it before.

So on Wednesday, I was cleaning my backyard and reorganizing everything. I had my side gate open to move stuff from the garage to the backyard. I finished everything up, locked the gate and went back inside to watch tv. After about 30 mins, I hear this yapping noise in my backyard and was like, "wtf is that noise?" So I go to investigate and there is about a 10 lbs dog in my backyard yapping. I was like, "okay, it is a stray dog." I open the door and go outside, the dog growled at me but was relatively friendly. It had a collar and a steel dog ID tag.

I read the tag and called the phone number listed. Told the guy his dog was in my backyard and gave him my address to come pick it up. He arrived promptly. I gave him the dog and he was damn near in tears to see the dog. He said the dog went missing on Monday and he couldn't find it anywhere. Then he opens up his wallet and hands me 5 $100 bills. He walks off with the dog and leaves. Just like that, I made $500 for about 30 mins of hassle.

That got me thinking!

I did some research on how the whole lost animal thing works. Basically, in my area, the local pound is completely useless at picking up stray dogs/cats so people often resort to offering rewards if you find their dog/cat. All you have to do is find one of these stray animals and call the owner. To find the owner information, it will simply be on the ID tag or some animals have microchip implant. If they have an implant chip all you have to do is go to petsmart/petco and ask to scan the chip which shows the owner information. When you have the information, just call the owner. When the owner arrives, make sure to say something along the lines of, "a donation for my efforts would be greatly appreciated." I'm sure they would gladly give you money since these days people treat pets like family members.

If you find a stray that has no ID/microchip then just drop it off at the local pound. They are required by law to take in unwanted animals because stray/unneutered pets just breed like crazy.

Now you know, next time you see that stray dog running on the sidewalk, don't walk past it! Capture it! The owner could be offering a reward for its return!

I bought a medium sized dog cage, some extra thick gloves, several leashes and several collars. I'm gonna try this method out on the weekend. Who knows how much money I might be able to make.

This method works and anyone can do it!

If you really want to blackhat it you can open up your neighbors gate and entertain their dog for a few days. Once you see the "Missing" posters around your neighborhood, call them and collect.

This is actually a good method. I'm going to try it out too. Also, I don't think this method will ever be too saturated or go out of style.

As a dog owner I've helped several dogs get back to their homes, sometimes spending hours just standing with them while waiting for the dog pound or owner to come after them.

It truly is a great feeling when the owner is reunited with their dog, seeing how joyful and happy they both are is the only reward I really need for doing it. I've been rewarded with money once because the lady simply wouldn't take no for an answer, twice I've managed to not accept it, just felt wrong.

Oh and I also got a thank you letter from my city and school from that one lady who forced me to take the €50 as a thank you. She took the extra step to notify my school at that time and also the city.

It's always been a truly amazing feeling, I've never left a stray dog on the street if they look even a bit decent (some dogs here simply are, street dogs, without owners and the dog pound won't do anything..)

This reminds me for the movie - "Seven Psychopats" where they steal dogs and call their owners then get money like crazy until stealing the wrong dog. Sorry for the usless post just had to say it.

And also, try not to ask any money in return unless they want to offer you some reward.

You want to scale that method up to kidnapping pop stars and daughters of billionaire industrialists !

I purposely went looking for lost animals in my neighborhood for the reward when i was like 12. found two or three animals over the course of a year, got a few hundred, its best not to quit your day job, and to just return lost animals for free when you find them, have being an owner of a lost dog, a pet going missing can be detrimental, do the right thing, if they give you a reward, cool.

Definitely cannot try this method in INDIA..

I found a great twist for this method. Forget going out and looking for the dogs. You can just leave your gate open with food in your yard, and trap them. Now you're on auto-pilot. You can thank me in ten years when you're a thousandaire.

This is kind of similar to a method that I've used before:

1. Kidnap someone
2. Tie them up in the basement
3. Call their family and tell them if they ever want to see them again, send $10,000 to my PayPal

It worked really well! They gave the money right up!

Yeah, of course. This method is hit or miss, some will give rewards while others won't. That's why I say to just ask for a donation. If they say no then whatever and just give the dog back but I'd say there is a decent amount of people who are willing to pay a good Samaritan for finding their lost pet.

Yup, that's why I say to just ask for a donation for your efforts. You can add in some bullshit sad story about how you found the dog running in the street and cars almost ran over it etc.

(some dogs here simply are, street dogs, without owners and the dog pound won't do anything..)

Right, but these days lots of animals are getting implant chips. In my area, the local pound makes it a requirement if you adopt so even that, "street dog" might have an owner. Worth capturing it and checking.

Something similar recently happened to my sister - except the dog bit her and the owner who lived near her didn't give her any kind of reward. She had to get 34 shots (30 more than she needed) and her medical bill was $13k.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'll stick with the online methods
