First, let me thank everyone who's read my posts over the last year and has had positive things to say. It's much appreciated.

This year, I want to do something a little different and how good this is will depend upon everyone who is interested in Offline Marketing aka Marketing Consulting. Specifically to local small business owners.

As you may have guessed, I'm very passionate about helping the local small business owner. Especially in the current economy. The more business owners I can help the more people will have jobs.

The best way to duplicate myself is to help those of you who are serious about starting your own offline consulting business. If I can help you get going then you can help local business owners possibly save their business.

So, what I want to know is exactly what is stopping you from getting out there and building your business? Is it lack of confidence? Is it lack of tools? Is it not knowing where to start? What services to offer? Exactly what is it that's preventing you from building your business?

I want details. Not "Who should my first client be?". I want questions like, "I live in ___ and my market niche is ____ and I'm wanting to provide them with ____ services and I want to know ____. I've tried this ___ and this ___. But what I'm thinking of is ____, what do you think?"

(Please don't waste my time and yours with SEO questions. Ask the "gurus" who are teaching that nonsense)

What am I going to do with these questions?

I'm going to place them into an audio seminar and answer your questions for you. I will get as detailed and precise as possible considering the time allowed per question. I have a friend of mine who's going to help me with this project. We'll release the RAW audio as we complete each 60 minute segment.

Keep in mind that I have my own consulting business and this is my busy time of the year. So, I ask you to please respect my time by giving some thought to your questions. The more I know about what you're asking the better my answer can be for you.

Yes, you can ask questions about a technique or idea that some "guru" told you about but didn't provide you with enough information to implement the concept. I'm more than happy to answer those questions.

I don't plan on doing more than three hours of this seminar. If you don't want to post your questions here, you can PM me your questions. Each person who contributes will be gifted with a complete set of the audios. And, I'm still considering if this will be a BHW exclusive or perhaps a JV for someone later. Just depends upon how well received this is and the quality of the questions asked.

If I JV, I'll probably be looking for people who will turn the audio into high quality articles, can clean up the RAW audio, who can market it, etc... Perhaps a group effort. Again, that depends upon how well this is received and the quality of the questions asked.

NOTE: If you're from outside the U.S. my answers won't be of much use to you. I'm honest enough to tell you that my system and way of marketing has only been tested and proven to work in the U.S. Your market will differ due to culture and value differences.

    Ready to get started?

    LOL

Ok, so what happened to all of those people who've been PMing me wanting to know how to get their business off the ground. Here you have an opportunity to get your questions answered and no one's taking me up on my offer.

I'll give it another week and then assume everyone has all the answers they need and will withdraw my offer.

Ok well I'll go first.. not sure if my question will be what you are looking for but I will give it a shot.

One of my old bosses has a furniture refinishing business that he has been running out of his home for 30 years now. Ever since 9/11 his business has been struggling and he is desperately in a need for new customers all the time.

He is always in touch with me still and he knows I work online so he asked me if I could get him a website built for him for his business a while ago and I did get him a site made. But now he needs to get it ranked to start getting some targeted hits.

I'm not sure exactly what you are offering, but he is definitely in the need of finding more advertising options and getting more customers. He mostly just advertises in the yellow pages for now and some adds on craigs list. Plus his website that is not ranked yet.

So can you help him or consult him?

I don't know if this is the kind of question you are looking for.. but there it is.

    Thanks

The one I have been getting is "how are you different than the other 20 calls I get each week from SEO companies?"

I know the answer is going to be different for everyone, and everyone needs to find their own niche, but some might benefit from a well crafted answer.

For me, its that I have proven results, and I focus on not just SEO, but a full marketing solution including improving conversions, branding, and sales process.

Ok I don't think you are looking for my kind of question... you are looking for people who are trying to start some type of SEO or marketing business offline.

    Here goes:

I live in south Texas, in a very small city of about 130K. I'm actually going to a speed networking event in about 3 weeks where we have 60 seconds to pitch our business to 6 other people. We will be rotating, and eventually cover 100 or so people.

I've never spoken before in front of people so I'll be nervous to say the least. My main problem is really knowing WHAT to say. I know how to do things, how to get results when it comes to getting someone on the top of the SERP's.. its really more of what to say, how to overcome rejection, etc..

Some good questions. I'll cover the answers in the audio if we can get a few more questions. Need a minimum of eight.

    Moto801: I've PM'd you a response.

xziler8r: I need a little more information as to exactly what you're offering your clients? A website? Just SEO? Exactly what services? More importantly what solutions are you offering?

kobees home: Glad to see you're still around. Have responded to your PM.

king8egg: I think you answered your own question but I'll go into more detail in the audio if I can get a few more questions.

Happy new year to you! I am hoping to get my offline marketing business off the ground this year. Honestly, I am just too afraid to start calling local businesses. It is hard to admit but it is the truth. I want to offer local SEO service where I get the business in the local google top 10 box. Along with this, I want to be able to provide them with an overall marketing service that helps them improve their website to have a good Call to Action as this is very important. I want to educate local businesses on the importance of building a list by collecting a customer's information so they can market to them over and over (email marketing).

My plan is to do the following:

    1. Call Local Businesses and offer them local google maps listing in top 10 box (2 businesses in each category)
    2. Once I get a face to face meeting, educate them on the importance of having an online presence and how this can improve their business going forward.
    3. Help them with their marketing needs focusing on helping them form JVs with other local non-competing businesses. Also help them better utilize their advertising dollars.
    4. Sometime this year get a white label program for sms marketing and really market this technology to local businesses (restaurants, etc)
    So here are my questions.

    1. I know how much to charge for local SEO services but that is about it. How much should I charge for email marketing and for providing them with in-house marketing advice? Should I set them up with icontact or aweber through my affilliate link and collect a small commission every month? Should I handle their email marketing for them and if so, what program do I use to set that up?
    2. Do I need to have a website in order to establish my credibility? I think I do and I can't believe I am even asking this question. Maybe you can give me a reality check and yell at me!
    3. How should I present them with the idea of partnering up with other local non-competing businesses and get paid for it? Do I tell them to give me a commission for new referred business? (www.jvwisdom.com has some good ideas)
    4. If you had to choose 4-5 services to provide to local businesses, what would they be? (I know I want to focus on the top 10 box and email marketing)
I hope this year will be good for all of us!!!

Due to lack of interest, I'm going to close this thread.

I thought with all the interest in offline marketing that there would a lot of questions. Evidently either every one has figured out how to build their consulting business or there are more dreamers than doers. 8)

Anyway, I'll see about getting these questions answered in the audio and will PM those who asked questions with the link to the audio when it's ready.

    Thank you for your participation.

krazyk: Excellent way to ask questions. You're either already doing this or have done your homework. No, you don't have to call. (I hate calling myself) There's another way.
