I posted a request for help a little while ago here - https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/i...et-in-front-of-local-business-owners.1429071/
After posting that, I came up with an idea myself for marketing to business customers using something similar to the 7878 moethod, but with my own twist -
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/i...et-in-front-of-local-business-owners.1429071/
I am sure that I followed the other method in the past and did not have any success - I just can't seem to find the relevant thread.

Anyway, now I am planning to attempt the same thing again and this is my plan -

First of all, my business is IT Support and I am trying to target small business owners that need help with their IT.

I am going to get together a list of relevant industries that typically have offices and computers, then I will find all local businesses in each of those industries and gather their postal address details.

In the meantime I am having some material designed that will hopefully drive home my offer to them.

The first problem that I can think of, is getting someone to even open the letter - I think thats why the 7878 method used something heavy like dice, so that the letter seems like its worth opening.

Well my idea is slightly different - I am going to put my message on the envelope itself! But I will also be a bit "off the wall" with the message which will be as follows -

If your computers are working perfectly, throw this letter in the bin.

That will be bold text on a solid background for maximum impact and will also have an icon representing the action of throwing the letter in the trash. I hope this has enough impact that the letter gets opened - out of curiosity if nothing else whilst also pre-qualifying the lead by making them think about how good (or bad) their current IT provider is.

Inside I will have a simple but bold A5 flyer on thick card - I want it to scream quality - with a short sales pitch followed by reviews from other business clients.

Thought I may as well start this journey thread to track progress.

I answered your other thread with something that got me attention way back when I did offline high-end marketing/sales.

Very creative idea!
Good luck mate... I’m eager to see the results.

I wouldn't do this.
You imply with this that the letter is unimportant. Also throwing anything in a bin is creating waste which is again not a good marketing thing in 21st century.

I agree with ry4n. Your going to have about a 3 second (or less) window to grab the readers attention
(which in your case, if you are targeting small/medium sized local businesses, its most likely being opened by a temp or a secretary)
Eyes naturally scan a page or a flyer from top left corner to middle right then bottom left. If one of the first things they see is "Throw this in the bin" your going to lose 75%+ of them right off the bat.

I would focus more on laser targeting your flyers to get into the hands of people who can actually reach out for your services, and not just get it thrown into the junk pile.

Or you could go balls to the wall and do what most penetration testers will do to big companies, and that is physically hack one of their data bases, show up for a scheduled interview, and just be like "so do
i have the job?" hahaha

I did read it, I think it was Local Marketing related.
Good Luck! :)
