Does somebody have a professional direct mail sales letter copy which sends out to their prospects?

I'm starting my own SEO company and I try to use the best tools, services and tricks around to make this work form me. I've never felt good working for somebody else cuz I always reminden myslef this sentense:

"Don't be a guy who receives cheques.. be the guy who writes out the cheques..."

I would use it in my country after translation :) Feel free to send me some examples to my email I will appriciate it :)

I'm from Poland so I'm not your competition and I won't share it with nobody. If you want to keep it confidential I will keep it that way :)

    artur614@o2.pl

    Thank you :)

Any advice and tips are welcome :) I will keep everybody updated with my journey in builging my empire :D

I won't give up even if the windy storm will come my way cuzzzzz I'M A PIRATE :pirate::pirate::pirate:

I ran a test direct mail piece for my offline marketing company around 2 months ago. I worked on the copy for weeks and it ended up being 7 pages which were in each letter. Each letter was sent to Lawyers/Solicitors/Estate Agents in my city. The test sample was only 200 but it was just that, a test. I used Dan Kennedy's stuff to optimise the piece as well as I feel I could've and sent them all out with reasonable expectations...

Of the 200 letters, at a cost of over £600 all in, I didn't receive a single phone call. I'm not saying direct mail doesn't work, it obviously does. All I'm saying is if you're going to do it get a pro who does it to write your copy for you or someone who has had experience with direct mail in the past.

Luckily I can drop that £600 without any worries but when I think about how many new clients I would've got by spending that £600 on alternative methods (Adwords being one example), it's enough to put me off trying direct mail again in future.

7 pages !?! The prospects probably started reading a few words and said no way I'm reading 7 pages of this I have too many other things to do.

I'm pretty sure you could have done it in 1-2 pages max and the conversion rate would have been better. Also, your branding needs to be top notch.

I've never done direct mail before but 7 pages is extremely long. I would think you need to give a short elevator pitch to them and to have a strong call to action.

I also thought this but after reading a lot of Dan Kennedy's stuff he explicitly states that the length of the direct mail piece shouldn't matter if you feel you are leaving out vital content. According to him, he has only ever had an increase in conversions when lengthening a direct mail piece and also said he has sent out pieces as long as 16 pages!

Either way I've not got the time to do another test just now, too busy doing the rest of my marketing. Good luck to anyone else thinking about giving it a try.

EDIT: I should've also stated that 2 of the pages were an illustrated "SEO Guide", so really only 5 pages of selling content which also included images here and there.

    Mmm

I agree. 16 pages is a bit long.

I am working on a letter till I can afford to hire someone to do it professionally. There's a BST here from someone charging $500 for a letter. I have spoken to her via email and chat, and all I can say is that I am really impressed. Just the questions she asked in our conversations (before I have even hired her), have been helpful in getting me to think a bit more about my service, what *value* I am offering the client, and how best to communicate that value. As soon as I can afford to, I will definitely hire her.

About the 7 page letter ... I have written a book I am offering as a free download from my site. Basically, the letter will just invite someone to download the book for free if they want to get more customers for their business. The book is very useful. It talks about online marketing for small businesses, and what owners need to be aware of, what to stay away from and what they should be doing to use social networks. I then offer my services to do the above.

This bit is untried, but the book will genuinely be useful whether a client hires me, hires someone else, or does it themselves. The point of the book is just to make them want to use the net to market their business. Far too many people have either been burned by expensive services etc in the past, so you need to get them to want the service before they decide that they want it from you.

My one page cover letter, which I will probably start sending out in about a week or so, is simple. I have not finished it yet, but this is the basic structure.
    a. do you want more customers
    b. you can use the internet
b1. I will personalise it by industry, and have a screenshot of the monthly (broad) search numbers for that industry on the country specific google domain
b2. I will point out the value of getting those leads
    c. I will emphasize that most businesses do it wrong, and hint that spending a lot of money is not the way to do it.
    d. I will state my price, and show how just getting a couple of extra leads per month from my service more than pays for it.
    e. I will offer them the free book download.

That's it really, and hopefully that will convert. I do not expect it to be more than a page long. In fact I am working on a version that fits on a postcard ... Search figures/screenshot on one side, and offer do download book, and my pricing on the other side.

Will start a *follow me* thread once I get going.

why not use email? invest in a scraper and email them and some software can whip up a page to show citations reviews verification etc.

i then buy voicemail software and have it run after hours. it leaves a message stating what i sent in the email.

does this method close a lot? no, but it nets me a client a week when i did it. i think i used to send about 1000 emails

why don't i use it if its still works? well after you have 6 or so clients all you have to do i ask them fro referrals. if u have done a good job, they will shout your name from the rooftops

Did anybody at ALL read 7878's thread before it was moved to Exec VIP? He spent around $40 on direct mail and made around 17k, and his method was simply genius and I am starting to do it now as well.

Snail mail has a very low response rate in my experience.

Email scraping has its upsides but also has its downfalls...

Here is my tip: Learn some basic direct sales techniques...

    Intro
    Qualify
    Presentation
    Close
    Referrals

    Get this: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/buy-sell-trade/329530-consulting-leads-pro-powerful-lead-generation-software.html

Jump on the phones or pound the pavement and close everybody yourself, face to face or on the phone.

More personal and it cuts past all the BS. People get a thousand advertisements thrown in front of them everyday asking them to buy shit, be different, be the one that they remember.

If you're going to do offline, do it right.

This method doesn`t work at ex-USSR. It`s a lot of SPAM letter at letter-boxes
