Official "special BHW opportunity" thread

Incase you didn't receive it about 10% of our membership list was sent a mail yesterday that appeared to come from BHW promoting another forum. All emails from BHW always point back into BHW and we never promote other forums or information that you can get for free on BHW.

We take our members security very seriously and all data on the database is fully encrypted.

As per the other threads we are looking into how and why this happened now through the logs and will have an answer today.

Early stages we can confirm no member information was compromised, it appears to be an injection into a mail queue.

We will let you know more as soon as we do.

Needless to say it's a scam so don't waste your money, get the "exclusive info" they are offering free here on BHW.

Update this email also went out with the subject "BHW special"

UPDATE. Confirmed exploit on mail queue. No information removed. Check your spam filters for any notification messages from BHW and please mark as not spam. Every bit will help.

Thank u DD for the update yesterdays mail piece clearly showed the work of the intruders who really took advantage of BHW mailing list we all know it won't happen anymore

I'm actually pleased it turned out to be fake.

As soon as I read it and saw the site my scam senses were tingling. Glad it's nothing official.

My initial thoughts upon receiving it were: "Probably just a spammer" but I remembered the email used here was a new one and not used for other sites and I never posted it anywhere so I searched the forum and found the original thread.

SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC:
I just can't help but think about what one could achieve by doing that to other forums using a decent website and domain name. Legal issues aside, one could achieve a great deal.

To the admins and mods, thanks for being open to us about what's happening. Will continue to watch this thread.

One good thing that came out of it was that I didn't know BHW mails its members. I probably disabled it at signup because I thought I would just be receiving spam. And now I can opt in to it.

Maybe its an old list that was shared.... I remember someone sharing all the member email data from BHW in 2011 I think.

Never ever use 100% real information anywhere, come on guys it's the internet, nothing is safe and I mean nothing.

Don't worry though, I'm sure Damien will sort everything out and put measures in place so this won't happen again though.

I never received the email but Im glad that DD and the team are already working on cracking it down.

This is why I love being on the forum - some amazing staff! If you guys need any help whatsoever (I doubt it ) give me a shout!
