Offering Free Internet Wifi to Bring Traffic & Make Money

I noticed some coffee shops offer free wifi, but when users connect to their wifi they are redirected towards the coffee shops home page, which is alot of traffic, what if I do the same and place a free long ranged wifi modem in a down town in some metropolitan area.


am I gonna be rich?

yeah you're right, the idea is one half & the work is the other half, but am thinking whether the amount of traffic is worth the modem price or not.
 
Would it be possible to lock access to wifi with content locker?
I saw wifis where you need to type your password to access, but not when you connect but on the provider site. You can't load other sites unless you type the password..

think out of the box, you can make some amazing stuff with this.. I'm going to take action about something similar.

Yeah very rich, until someone downloads 20 TB of childporn on your wifi network. Then you'll be rich in prison.
 
The idea is good.Think what users from that range 'll want to find on your website,so they will stay on your site.
 
Actually all of this talk about slapping a CPA locker over top of your lock page is a pretty good idea.

You could develop a generic, nice looking page and offer it to cafe owners for a 50/50 split. Then your cost is 0.

Just make sure you get offers directly from your affiliate manager, discuss your id, and get the ip restriction taken off.
 
I wonder if you can do this with a mobile phone.

Like use the phone as a hotspot.
 
Won't be able to support to many computers,small area.What about buying a dish with high dBi, I saw some medium sized ones that are 24 dBi for around $30.But that would be for personal use.
 
I dont know about where you live but in houston you can find free wireless just about anywhere. You want to make money get a grant to provide it to lower income subdivisions within a large city.

The community development funds will pay you plus profit.
 
Just my 2 cents, the content locker idea would be a no go. All of the traffic would be coming from the same IP, something that advertiser's record. Most CPA offers won't allow the offer to be completed twice on 1 IP, and if they do you'll eventually get kicked for suspicious traffic. A better idea would be to try and build an email list, sell it, market a product, clickbank, yada yada, but CPA would not be an option with something like this.
 
1) Talk to your Affiliate Manager or Network Manager and discuss the situation. Most likely you will be reserved to hard incent offers.

2) Implement and get the word out there.

3) Make sure the locker is easy to complete and easily understandable to what you have to do for the access. A simple message like:
"By completing an offer you will be supporting this free wifi. No worries the following offers are absolutely free and legitimate."



Alternatively you could create your own co-reg pathway and generate more money. Some people will kill for decent speed internet so you could potentially make a killing, especially if you redirect mobile users to offers for mobile.



If you don't care to let your AM know, I would suggest you simply buy into a proxy network or something that will have a wide IP distribution in order to cover your ass. However, being upfront with them will secure you for the long run.

this is a really neat idea. i'm sure you'll think of some way to make money off of it.

Here's my idea: There is a program called cashgopher or something like that and they pay you to browse the web because they show their own ads or something like that in place of other people's. (I'm not the owner of cashgopher and don't even use it) This is just a suggestion, maybe you could find a better program.

Just an idea, probably not one that will work, but hopefully it'll lead you to something else
 
my neighbor making money selling wifi. He build 15-16 meter antenas and spread out wifi around. Provide 3 MBps connection ans sold for 20 per month unlimited. Looks like nice business since no work needed after the system running.

just punching the range of the router to 5 miles...

and name your network something sexy like SavannahsCam...

but I was never able to figure a way to do it and monetize it.

the equipment was like around $10,000....
so it would take a while to break even....

It was too much money to invest and no solid strategy to profit.

So, I put that project on hold..

What sort of technical skills are needed to set something like that up? on a smaller scale though.

Also, with the sexy SSID - set the LP when they connect to a dating aff page orperhaps a personalised page and team up with a cam girl to share profits.
