Hi guys,

Just a quick one. I've had someone reach out to me offering £300 for a backlink.

I'm probably going to accept, but just want to tap into other people's experience. Is there anything I should be careful of? I'm thinking he might want to pay by paypal and do a chargeback? Are chargebacks possible if the money is sent as friends / family?

TIA

If the person who contacted you is from UK I'd ask for payment via bank transfer. (Assuming you are too)

Yes, I'd thought of that. He was from UK, but now lives in another country.

I could always ask for International transfer / bit coin?

what platform did you meet the person?

Facebook, he reached out to me, his site is kosher. No idea what to make of him yet. I just want to make sure that the money transfer sticks.

If he charge backs, first off its a digital product and you can prove that you delivered, so you can easily win. And if he does win, just remove his backlink.

Yeah, I was thinking of asking him to put in the description "for payment of backlink from site A to Site B", which would further verify my case should PayPal opened an enquiry. I understand he can make a chargeback if the payment wasn't authorised, i.e. it wasn't him.

Completely understand I can remove the backlink, but it could also be him fishing for a free temporary link. I doubt this approach, his backlink profile suggests strongly that I'm not the first backlink he's bought.

I'd say the benefits outway the risks. Either you're £300 up and a link given.
Or as said, if he charges back you can remove the link.

Sounds legit to me.

Take payment by Bitcoin or Wire Transfer and you will be safe ;)

It is a backlink, just remove it if he sucks later.

I never heard about winning case in dispute by creator if the payment has been made by family and friends.

Ask Him to Provide the Content as well. Even if he cheats you, you get the content which stays !!!

£300 received into a personal (not business) Paypal account, will update if there's a chargeback.

Good you accepted the payment via Paypal.

Was going to suggest not to share your bank details with some random guy online who wants to buy a backlink from you...

Is your site popular ?
How much traffic it gets per month?
Be careful while dealing this kind of deals.
