Hello BHW, my name is Charles. I am 19 and entering my second year at a NYC university. In the past year a series of unfortunate events have occured within my family. My father has passed with all of his assets partially in the name of his brother. For the past 8 months I have lived with my uncle until he met a young woman from Russia and they both decided it was time for me to move out. He left me on the streets with a luggage case of clothes and $100. My uncle sold my father's home, kept his car, and emptied all his bank accounts.
On a brighter note, I am not willing to give up my education as I have a full scholarship to my university for academics without dorm. On top of that I receive a $2,000 stipend to spend on books per year. Recently, I have been employed by a clothing retailer which pays a little over minimum wage. So it's not too bad. I currently stay at my university's library until closing hours where I then walk around Manhattan collecting bottles from garbage cans and recycle bags on the sidewalk. I do not shoplift, steal, or rob.
I have created this moderate living situation for myself and I am okay for it. But I know that this is a temporary situation I am in which I must dig myself out of. In the past, my IM skills have been only spare change. My total was around $1,200 with only using sharecash over 3 months, but this was a few years ago.
When my next check comes, I will be investing it entirely as my stipend will be added to my university account later this month. A journey post will be created to keep track of my own progress. I am entitled to a good life.
