I know it’s completely antithetical to suggest that people move away from the big conglamarate of social media empires. I’m not gonna name names. We all know what’s going on. Some of us have profited. Some of us are trying to profit.

These social media empires have infact funelled the greatest record of human resources that have ever been recorded on this earth into a data base TRACKING YOU. So what do you think that these FOR PROFIT business entities really are gonna do with this “free” consumer data?

Don't worry man, the blockchain is fixing that. It will take some time for the upgraded social networks to scale and find larger audiences. The are a few of them operating presently and more and more of them will show up. This bullshit of social network companies declaring ownership status of social media account and their data has to stop. Data is not a traditional asset and shouldn't be seen as such. To take it many steps further, the internet should just declare sovereignty and become it's own nation state to then fix the problem itself. I could even see that happen with OS affecting global finance and advanced political systems. Just because Bitcoin took a shit, it doesn't that encrypting the internet won't still change the world.

its just using big data for marketing purposes, its just what those marketing purposes are focusing on that has got people twitchy.

it has always been done, for instance tabloids push out one political slant, broadsheets another, you then gather sales numbers which gives you an idea of political leanings and focus your message to garner or create a consensus. it has just become more technical and therefore obvious. people just get pissed when their consensus falls on deaf ears in favour of another opposing agenda. congratulations thats 'democracy'

Because Facebook is so big people are too scared of missing out to leave, despite the scandal their shares are going back up. They said one company that left has gone crawling back. Like it or not, they're here to stay
