How do you modify your subreddit so it does not get banned in the future? And what do I have to be cautioned about when growing an NSFW subreddit?

I mainly do everything myself, most of them are my friends, not sure where you can find good mods

No, cuz you can get copystrike on your subreddit and it can be taken down, you will have to manually moderate it

There is only one rule to grow NSFW subreddit. You should ensure that the content that is being posted in your subreddit, complies with the terms and conditions of the platform.
