Yes but depends on what you intend to do with the account and how frequently you are trying to post/comment.
Currently best thing to use on reddit are either 4g/5g mobile proxies or clean residential ones.
 
If you only have 1 account use residential proxy because it's more cost effective.

If you're scaling you can go with mobile 4G
 
i tried a VPN and the account was banned instantly without posting any ads or anything
 
Check out the VPN subreddits and read the countless threads about reddit blocking legit VPN users. VPNs can get in the way of ad impressions & clicks so Reddit is cracking down on VPN regardless of legit or spam.
 
Yes, always use proxies when creating alt accounts sites are becoming more strict when it comes to registrations coming from a VPN IP.

Is it really that hard nowadays on Reddit?

I remember the good old days when I easily pulled out 10k - 20k - 30k - 40k views daily, using a single account with 0 of my subreddits.

I suppose they'll learn the hard way, Reddit was historically one of the most spammed networks.
