I suggest putting adsense on right away. No reason not to in my opinion. It gives you a good way to watch increases in earnings. First essential steps in SEO would be making sure your website gets indexed in Google, and I personally suggesting using Google Webmaster Tools to see what keywords Google is ranking you for. There are wordpress plugins you can also use for that I believe.

I put adsense on my sites right after they are indexed and never had any problems. :)
I don't understand your question exactely, but once your posts are ptimized (on-page SEO) and indexed, you can start building backlinks (Article Marketing, Press Releases, Blog Commenting, Question & Answer Sites, Profile Posting...)

I like to wait until my Blog is established before putting Adsense on it. All my Adsense Blogs have unique content and do not look like made for Adsense sites.

Google are quick to ban accounts these days if they believe you have a thin MFA site so because I don't want to risk my account I'm very careful.

Others will say nvm but getting another Adsense account if you're banned is difficult so I don't risk it.

You can of course do whatever you like :)

Yoast SEO is great for meta stuff, write some good content on site, scrape some articles, spin the f'rs and then nuke em...

Try putting it on right now, do some testing, try and improve and then compare.
