You say nothing works but you havent said what methods you have been employing so its pretty hard for anyone to give you any constructive advice. Whats been working for me lately on stagnant sites is Video and social.

If you're going to invest less than $10k and chase after low-hanging-fruit? High quality web2.0s as a tier-1 and spam the web2.0s. If you want to be really cheapo on it, make web2.0s your money sites.
If you're going to chase after big keywords, buy domains with high PR and create a private high PR network.

If you are looking for some cheap & quick method then i am afraid its long gone now.Seo works still & will always be,it just evolves just like everything else in life in course of time.You need to learn adopt with the changes around you or its time for you to move on something better or find some alternate source of income source in online.I have my client & my site which are still ranking well (even some from a new website from nowhere to 1st or 2nd or 3rd pages within few weeks & still going strong while holding their rankings) & generating traffic/leads/profits from their organic ranking mostly. So hell yeah it works,you just needed to do what actually works or find someone who can offer you the service you require not some cheap low quality service that will actually do harm to your website then any good.
