I don't really know how to begin my post, or even if I'm posting in the right section. I'm not new at BHW, only being a lazy leecher scince...ever. So, first of all, a friend and I started an authority site project about a year ago. I don't want to tell you the exact niche, but it may be very similar to books. Because of the low local competition, we started the project knowing like nothing about SEO or IM at all. I can tell you, we had a pretty rough learning curve, so it took some time to get things done, especially onpage SEO. After writing some optimized articles, round about 30, we wondered about not getting any traffic and not being found in google SERPS. The nooblike we were at this time, we thought it had to be our article quality. I don't have to mention we were wrong. We dug deeper into SEO and learned about backlinking's importance. Well, everybody is always talking about the 'backlink gold' and about 'link or sink' and stuff, but it was very hard to find about how to build good backlinking profiles. Most of german (yeah, I'm german, too. Flame me for it, I'm used to...:beer IMs are suffering from the 'Guru Syndrome': They lie and lie about each and every topic and take their own sh*t for gold. So it was this time, one of the few trustable german SEO guys adviced me to take a look at BHW. I read an awful lot about SEO on here. I discovered that some tactics are more promising than others. So, because it's seemengly very easy to screw up as an IM, I took a step back on our main project for further experimenting. But I have to get back to it asap, because even though we have about 200 HQ articles, most of them are ranking pretty bad, the good once on top 10's low end. As time passed, I got a bit frustrated with this project. We did a hole lot of work for just about 60$ monthly. To get some experience on backlinking, we started 3 PPI sites, all of them pretty small (about 3 articles each). To get our hands on the authority site's exact opposite, we wanted to churn and burn them. Again, an awful lot of research was done, the pages set up and we even bought a few tools and proxies...so I have to eat only noodles the next few weeks :hmpf:. Reading all the articles about scraping I never thought it would be such a pain. But scraping is the easy part... shooting all the links at our 3 PPI sites was even worse. Only 5k verified links from a 500k scraped list somehow sounds like a really bad joke. In the end, money is getting tight, the investments hurt and the PPI sites don't even try to rank...what the hell am I doing wrong? What did I miss? Any ideas on how to get at least $20/day?
