Not Understanding Scrapebox / Proxies

I purchased SB yesterday. I want to harvest some blogs so I can manually comment on the best ones. I can't seem to get started. Looking here / youtube for tutorials and tips but still a frustrating day later.

I've searched in SB and got a list using +?:8080? +?:3128? +?:80? filetype:txt

Tested the large list over night, to get 0 passed.

Used SB proxy harvester to get a list, got some that passed. Typed in a few keywords and started to do a test url harvest. I get 200 pages returned for wedding photography, wedding photographer & wedding photographer blog (Can't be right)

GOOGLE harvest seems to return nothing, yahoo is better. Is this because the Proxies are not passing the Google Test?

Where do you go for fresh proxy list.

Is it worth paying for some private ones just to do URL harvesting not commenting. Will I run into the same problem with the private ones, where they will be banned after a few hours and I'll have to purchase more?

Any good advice would be appreciated. At this moment, I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or the program is not working as i've not had any success so far and can't measure it up to anything?

If anyone knows a good starting tutorial, that would be appreciated too..

Well first, proxies are not banned for ever, there are banned for 15 minutes or sometimes a bit more.


Although, as you said if you want to harvest it is better to do it with fresh public proxies.

Personally, i use sbproxies.com, which i found pretty much randomly but it is an awesome service which provide proxies which are tested all the time.

So far, they have the highest rates of good proxies on their list from the different services i've tried.

Anyway, the thing to not do is to use your own IP to harvest

2nd time I looked at sbproxies avast blocks it so not too sure on that one..

Finding fresh public proxies is what is frustrating me at the moment. I harvest a proxy list, then have to test, which I left running last night, for all of them to fail (probably an old list) but is it true that the time you may have tested 5000 proxies, they might be out of date anyway.

Also. I had a few SB proxies that harvested and passed the test but when I run a scrape on 1 keyword, it didn't really show any decent results from google...Could this be due to the proxies being flagged by google.

I am just in the getting used to SB stage at the moment, don't know what I am doing and not getting any successful results back from it, possible all down to my proxy list. I hope..

How many proxies is ideal for harvesting blogs/checking pagerank/do follow. If I only need 1 that might help.


Would I need to adjust my settings to suit. e.g Read about the 20% rule?

If the proxy is banned and I have only 1 proxy in the list, how do I know it's stopped working when harvesting?

When it stops working you'll stop returning results. You just gotta keep scraping them and retesting. I usually have about 15-30 public proxies going during harvest never have any problems.

I think I am going to give private proxies a go for the time being and see where that leads.

I am not sure how long it takes the pros to harvest working public proxies but at the moment for me it's taking far too long to even be slightly successful.

I am currently using hind my a** service and this seems to work will for me I just put it on a timer and the software will change the Ip address on its own without me touching it or you can manually change you set the timer how often you want it to change really cool tool maybe this can help you.
