Not setting meta description for posts?

if posts meta are not set then your meta is autogenerated by google and is usually:

first line of post + one sentence where the searched word occured + one more sentence (dont know of what kind)



but thats not bad right?

Meta is not important as in old days. i dont give much importance to that.

Yup, those can actually be either picked by google - the first sentence on the paragraph should contain the keyword, as that is the most likely place that they will be reading and using that as your description for your site's description on SERP. But this causes other issues like keyword cannibalization - multiple posts within your site fighting for the same ranking on SERP which causes fluctuation and not stable ranking in the process, so there are pros and cons.

I see this as an important factor because; I myself reading the description of each website on Google before enter a website in the serps.
