Not ranking for exact keyword?

So I've created a post on my blog. The post i'm trying to rank for, the keyword phrase as follows

"Product vs product"

There is only 45 results for this phrase so it should be at worst 46..but its not its no where.

Now if I search

"Product or product", Instead of "product vs product" it doea show up in top 40

But I'm trying to rank for "product vs product" as that's where the traffic is being searched on google for.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

When did you published your article?
 
You could be going up against stop words in Google in which G doesn't index based on the stop word but allows you to be found with derivatives of the phrase.

Don't quote me on this though I don't know that either word you mention is even a stop word, they are just short words like a stop word.
 
Because that keyword has much higher competition and search volume.

They make sure your page is worth it before it is served.

Maybe it is and just needs more time. If it's not, the issue might be content.

Everyone else that's ranking for the keyword seems to be ok

It has 2000 words of content..it is rewritten content, but not sure that makes a difference. If it still ranks for the "product or product"

Maybe the keyword "product vs product" appears ro many times?

Word count is not a ranking factor. It is about fulfilling the search intent, answering the query and having info packed content.

If you can say the same value with less words you might outrank much longer pieces of content. And other way around.
