not getting a security code from instagram

I have double checked with that I entered proper email address.
guy bought an account from me, I sent him password and email.
he tried to log in, got a suspicious log in notification, the email never arrives on my end when he sends the security code question.
do you guys know how to solve this?
I use protonmail
