Recently I've been trying to boost my productivity and I started reading about nootropics (like caffeine, l-theanine, and other legal substances to help increase focus etc.).

What do you guys think about them? Do you use any?

In the past few years, I've been a super heavy coffee drinker but I don't really know if I just like the taste of coffee versus it actually helping me get work done.

be careful drinking all those energy drinks etc... they are bad for your liver, kidneys, and have a shitload of sugar :(

Coffee is good, BUT in moderation :) Just get your min 6 hour sleep and exercise in between seep movement and you will have more energy to continue your projects :)

Stay away from that shit mate. Period.

You body is not a machine, and straining it will cause irreparable damage.

Personally I've found that by sleeping well (at least 6 hours) and eating healthy, your body will get what it needs. Coffee is a great boost, but have you ever heard of power naps?
Giving you body a nice 20 minute rest once or twice a day will help you more than any synthetic enhancements.

I want to try Provigil, also 5HTP.

If you want something in the range of a Xanax/opiate feeling together you can try Phenibut, pretty strong and dirt cheap.

is it a typo for noobtopics?

Yeah I was never really able to do naps. But that seems like an interesting take on it.

Also don't really do energy drinks, just a lot of coffee... but I'm sure that's not the healthiest option either.

Honestly, one of the best things I did for productivity was start working out more.

Never drink energy drinks, it was my strong addiction, I used to drink atleast 1-2 cans a day every single day for 5-6 months, I am now feeling much better without them (haven't drunk any for a few months). You can try energy shots though.

Myself and Subster conceded it wasnt doing anything....There was an initial placebo type effect but that obviously wore off quickly. Zapdos was going pro with some serious combinations but he hasnt been back to update in a while.

It might help you in some way but nothng jolts you into life like a coffee.

Sweet thread -- just read it all.

Doesn't seem like they came to a conclusion.

Stay away from it all! Instead, bank hard on other people asking the same questions. Food for thought =)

I actually started taking various stacks for this. Definitely saw improvements. I'm trying to learn Spanish in under 6 months. If you haven't tried it before just start off slowly, like taking creatine. Then move onto other stuff. Shoot an email to Tim Ferriss if you want more expert advice. I'm still kinda new to it.

1. Get up early in the morning every day and hit the gym for an hour
2. Drink water throughout the day
3. Get a good night sleep
4. Repeat

This works better than any stimulant...

Honestly, this is pretty much what I was expecting as an answer.

The only real way to feel great all the time.

I have been using Modafinil for over a year now. Shipped 120 caps from India...200mg each. And have 4 more left as I didn't use it heavily.

It worked out for me pretty well. Made me sharp, alerted, focused on whatever I did. I cut it into half and use 100mg. Usually 2-3 caps per week. I also cycled it...after using 3-4 months, I took a month off.

It helped me a lot...no doubt. Though, I don't think I will need it anymore, as I used it for forming certain habits by staying alert, focused and on-schedule.

I would suggest it to someone who is totally lost and need to get back in the game. Not recommended for people like you Brandon who constantly improves his current situation :)

There are tons of bad reviews about it ...

And natural things are natural ...

You have the answers , go with them .

What brand did you get? I got modalert and didn't notice much.

I also used Modalert by Sun Pharmaceuticals. I guess it works for some people only and doesn't work for most. Most probably if your expectations are pretty high from it :)
