Why can't we control Linux VPS like Windows VPS (using RDP)? Am I missing something? When I get a Linux VPS all I get is command prompt and web hosting.
Of course you can control it just like windows , you can install GUI and VNC to connect remotely just like in windows. Check this out How to Install GUI on low RAM VPS?
And that's the reason why windows is more famous than any other OS all around the world due to its front end access which is lack in linux VPS. In linux you can have only back end access to it and need to know various commands to make any changes in the VPS. But you can install GUI in linux too to have afront end access but it will not match up to windows.
Just a question for OP... why would you want to control a Linux VPS like a Windows one? Just use the command line... way better then some crappy Windows GUI :0)
As above you can if you install GUI. However, Linux is best without GUI and it's really for running services like web hosting, backup or virtualisation etc.
If you want to do stuff from a desktop GUI you are best going for windows.
