There is no clear answer as of yet. I emailed Danny Baauw one of the Affiliate Managers directly asking about this, showing my distaste. Hopefully sometime today I will get a response and we can figure out where our money is going if it ain't getting to our pockets.

Dear affiliate,
As you may have noticed Rude is converting like crazy.
We?re a loving community and we want our affiliates to make as much money as possible.
This is why Rude is the only program out there that doesn?t require a free join to opt in for you to make money.
You as an affiliate make $1.- for every free join that submits the 2nd page of the join form. That?s it.
Unfortunately due to recent developments we are no longer able to keep this up.
The setup status quo has become too vulnerable for cheaters and we have no other choice than to implement the opt in rule.
Effective immediately, credit will be given for joins that opt in only.
Meaning that the free join will have to confirm their email in order to convert.
What does this mean for you?
-You might see a slight decrease in hits/join conversions since unfortunately not every join opts in.
-No worries about your earnings made so far and in the future. Nothing changes and it will remain in your account, waiting for you to cash out.
Rude regrets that it had to come to this, but we trust that you understand there?s no other way for us to protect ourselves and our affiliates.
We?re positive that regardless of this measure we will keep converting like very well for you.
So keep those links up and see for yourself.

So, what does this actually mean, I never used rude, was planning to start with them now, what exactly is going to change?

Normally you would get $1 per sign up if they just filled in the details on the first and the second page, however, now, they'll recieve a message in their inbox asking them to verify their email address, if they don't verify, you don't get anything. Which makes perfect sense if you're driving targeted leads to them, not so much when people sign up through YT comments

The only change is now our leads need to click a link in the email verification, I actually thought this was already in practice!
Either way, I honestly don't think this will be an issue, even with the YT comments method, perhaps it could make us lose some 2% of the usual conversions, I may be wrong, but I don't see a big deal out of this change.
Pretty much everything today works with email verification, affiliates, forums, programs, you name it, not really an issue here.

There is nothing to fix, this is just a change they decided to make to prevent fraudulent leads/bots/etc. Now I guess we just gotta see if they are still worth promoting, taking other factors into consideration... like shaving.
I see mate. I hope we can find other sites that pays per lead. In the last 6 hours i got 21 joins and only 5 convert. Sad because some of us are relying in this method for an extra $20-$30 or more a day.

There are better affiliates to promote now with RUDE's change. So I assume the "joins" that didn't convert before with RUDE were only because the user filled out the first part of the form but not the second? And now joins that don't convert are because they aren't validating their email. Eh there's more to the story than we are led to believe.
