So a few days ago I launched my first MSN site, it currently has 3 pages, one is the landing page, one "filler" and the third is a content locked one. Landing page's text is like 600 character long, other two is like 350. Today all of my pages got indexed (I typed in site:mysite dot com) and google listed all of my pages.

My question is, how do I get ranked for my keyword? I payed attention to keyword density, its something like 2,4% for main keyword. But how do I get ranked? I just have to wait for the site to turn up as a search result for the keyword, or do I have to do some backlinking for that to happen? How do I know if it happened? Do I need some kind of tool to detect that? And if so, what tool do you recommend?

you can do manual backlinking to get started...that seems to work the best for me.

Have you done on-page SEO for your site? If no do that first of all.

On-page SEO if fine I think... Exact match domain, only one H1 tag per page which is main keyword, meta tags & description added, including main keyword. Pages are interlinked too. Is there anything else I should pay attention to?

Make some manual blog comments and article submission. That would be give awesome results for your MNS

Ok, I will do that :) I will report back in this thread if I achieve something.

Once you do what blackpayman733 has mentioned then after few days build social bookmarking links. Don't overdo it. Build around 30-50 social bookmarking links as your site is new.

Did some blog comments so far. If I entered my URL into the "website" field when posting, then will that function as a backlink, or do I have to add the link to the comment body? I will do some article submissions today.

Bookmarks are your friends here, but so is more content. Add a few more keyword rich pages, then bookmark your whole site, not just the homepage, for all sorts of niche related anchors. Then bookmark your main page with more anchors/titles for your main keywords and long tails. Meta index/ping/ and AA comment blast those bookmark urls to get them indexed, and you will rank.

Cheers.

Synnd gives you a free account.... or you could be really rude and do a week trial of the enterprise version and have all the work done for you!

The idea is you don't have to build the social accounts yourself, and the whole system gives more natural results.

Add 5 more unique articles and then begin the off page process. You have to have some deep links to link to.

As said above, manual link building. Try to get some high quality, do-follow links. Of course, keep adding content.

Everyone, thank you very much for your help! :) I will add more content first, then slowly build some high quality backlinks too.

This can not do that easily.
Before ensuring the fact that there are multiple task to do before doing anything.
You have to wait for your site to get indexed and google.

Wow I'm actually surprised no one has answered one of your first questions.

"How do I check if it happened?"

Download market samurai (free 30 day trial) and start a ranking campaign on your site. There is tutorials on there site explaining how to set it up includeing what keywords your trying to rank for. It then goes of and comes back with your position your ranking for (if your ranking at all)

As for improveing your ranking the over guys above have you covered ;)

Hey everyone!
A few days has passed since I last posted in this thread, so I think it is time to update. I didn't have much time in these last few days so I only made 1 new post on my site (although it is almost 700 words long) about a topic that is related to my niche.
I did some blog commenting and a few (2-3) social bookmarks too. I ended up subscribing to Serpbook, since it is less than a $ for the first month (the smallest package at lest - perfect for me, and its awesome!).
According to Serpbook I have 1 backlink and the main page is ranking in google on the 26th position for the main keyword :)
Hopefully with time more of my links get indexed and I get on top position - until then I will add more content, and slowly build backlinks from article submissions, blog commenting, and social bookmarks as you have told me.

Again, I want to thank everyone who has helped me in this thread! :D Will update once my rankings have improved.
