I have a local website that needs some help moving up in the rankings with big G. I've found a lot of great service providers in BHW, but I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what services my website needs. My webiste is a local Real Estate website and I also have a Wordpress blog hosted on my site. The website is only about 8-9 months old with only a handful of backlings and 0 PR.

What services would be the most beneficial to me at this point? Since SERP's are the most important thing I was thinking of starting with a backlink campaing. But how many backlinks is too many if my website is only a couple of months old?

What about Linkwheels and Bookmarking services? Would I be better of getting someone to create the likwheels and then point all of the links torwards the Web 2.0 sites and bookmark them on top of that???? I know these are a lot of questions but I would really appreciate any feedback you can provide and sorry if some or all of these questions seem stupid.

it depends on what you are doing to get the backlinks!
if you are spamming use web2.0 sites
if it is a legit BACKLINK then get it directly

Find a GOOD QUALIFIED backlinker , Make sure they know what they are doing and just backlink away. It also wouldn't hurt to get listed on Google places and have someone do a bunch of reviews. (If you have a location) Good luck man

If your site is local, then I'd suggest that you focus your efforts as such FIRST. Once you've achieved the SERPs that you want on a local scale, then you should work towards general rankings.

As far as what SEO tactics you should employ, you don't need anything hard core for the most part. Local search is less competitive, and you can probably get by with some light SEO. The smartest thing would be to compare the competition for your target keywords, then develop a plan for SEO.

Search here on bhw for goog maps info - for geo-targetted sites it's one of the better resources.

Also some manual work on forums in the niche can go a long way. Though I prefer automating everything due to both the quest for quantity and sheer laziness on my part.

Oh and backlinks in case anyone hadn't mentioned them.

    Do both.

Backlink to your money sites. And backlink to the promoters as well.

Make the backlinks into several layers. That's your best chance of winning the game nowadays.
