I am totally new to using Social Bookemrking sites, I didnt really think that they were that sueful till I've been reading this forum. So I want a piece of the pie :)

Can you let me know if I am correct in thinking this is how we use it

    1) Create an account on a Social Bookmarking site
    2) Create a public bookmark of the URL
    3) Post a Title (Title will be a keyword for that URL)
    4) Post a description (Description will be a sentence about the site)

If this is correct, would we create a bookmark for other pages on the site. For example, the index page url will be linked to by using the keyword I put in the title of the bookmark. So for the main page I use "Widgets" linking to widgets-r-us.com. Then my other page that is optimised for "blue widgets" I create a seperate bookmark with "blue widgets" linking to widgets-r-us.com/bue-widgets . Is that correct? Sorry I know this is basic stuff :D

If you do more then one bookmark for the same page (using different accounts), would you use the exact same keyword or not?

    Any help is appreciated

You bookmark content, so for example you'd write an article on "The best widgets for bookmarking" and then would bookmark that :D

You can't really bookmark the same page to the same site as it will check for duplicate content, some sites (digg, reddit, stumble) allow you to boost the bookmark rank by voting on it :D

You have to think about why people would want to visit your main site, get some articles written, get them onto your main site, then bookmark the hell outta them.

Don't take bookmarking as an easy form of traffic, to work well you need quality viral content.

i see what you mean. Well its not an affilate site I am doing, its a site that I offer a service from, on my site is a number of articles and it generally has new content. The service I offer is pretty unique (not seo or anything related whatsoever), so the bookmark i guess would be a way to say, "o look here is a guy who does this".

Does that make sense? Would SB be any good for me?

just been looking at my competitors (very few actually) and they have all got Social Bookmarks going to their sites, and one in particular has duplicate links from digg from different accounts. So I am guessing that SB is used for sites and not just articles.

I am thinking about using one of the SB services advertised on this forum and just want to be sure that it will benefit my site and that its worth it.

After I have my main site Social bookmarked i was then going to do a few linkwheels, then i will be using artciles etc.

So is it worth it for my main site and is the above correct in what i am thinking?

your help guys is appreciated as always

If your thinking linkwheel, do the linkwheel's first, then social bookmark your linkwheel sites :D

thanks Crashed, I appreciate your help. The link wheels are going to take a while as I want to create unique content for each web 2.0 property to add some longevity to my results. So would you recomend SB my main/focus site now? I am getting nervous as I see competitors rising quickly
