Hi guys, I am a newbie here so be easy on me :( I just bought a domain off Namesilo and hosting from Namecheap. Do I have to transfer my domain from Namesilo to Namecheap? I tried downloading Wordpress and I received the confirmation email but when I go to http://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/ it says 404 page not found.

Hey, im new here too!

You need to set you DNS setting to redirect to your hosting ip adress, google about DNS. You can also transfer the domain but this is not needed.

Change your nameservers to name cheaps, if you have any more questions just ask live chat support, they are very helpful

Change your dns to the ones your host gave you in your welcome email. Once that has settled then go to your c/panel and install WordPress from there

thanks so much for all your help! i finally did it

I did heard some bad thing about namesalio so if you haven't yet moved it off off there you could do that or keep that in mind for the future. I wouldn't bother yet.

Contact the support of namecheap they will assist you with the WP installation.
Your domain should point to the NS of namecheap.

Hi, mate
glad to see you started your journey to IM
For the 1st question, You do need to transfer your domains at all.
For the 2nd one, you sure you have installed your WP blog in the home directory? and make all the dns resolutions things ok?

You don't need to transfer your domain to Namecheap. The next step is you need to point your domain to your hosting. The pointing process is based on each domain registrar you purchased (Namecheap). Read them at registrar website document. Basically, you just need to replace their default DNS to your hosting DNS that your hosting provider give you.

Good luck to you,
